Lately I find that it difficult to enjoy the cast recordings of shows that I haven't seen. Sometimes the music just doesn't work out of context.

I haven't seen the show yet and thought this recording would be a nice hold over until I finally see it, but it's so good that the recording is it's own entity to me, like I don't need the show and the people live onstage in my mind to back it up when I listen to it.

did that make any sense to anyone?

also I love wondering about what's happening in the book of the show,
Is Moritz gay and doesn't fully know it? ("Not that I wouldn't", "Can't help but itch, to touch, to kiss,
To hold him once again", His friendship w/ Melchior)
Why is Isle an outcast?
Why does she sing The Dark I Know Well w/ Martha, is she being molested too?
Does Wendla sing Whispering before or after the "event"?
How and why does Mel find out he'll never see Wendla again?

I get so giddy when I think about those things, I can't wait to see the show, but for now, the cast recording is gold.

You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl

"If artists were machines, then I'm just a different kind of machine...I'd probably be a toaster. Actually, I'd be a toaster oven because they're more versatile. And I like making grilled cheese" -Regina Spektor

"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl

"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott

I listened to this CD all the way through for the half dozenth time today maybe and I really think they should take the album out of stores, or at least re-lable it the 'off-broadway' cast recording, and then re-record it now that it's frozen on broadway. the differences are getting really annoying, and the fact that they're out of order is kind of annoying.

just a thought. I know it would never happen because it takes loads of money but...

Has the Tom Deckman issue on the cd sleeve been resolved? Do the CDs now say Jonathan B. Wright?

Curious, where did you purchase your copy BDavis? I have a friend who bought one from Amazon a week ago and it was a bad copy too. Did Decca completely drop the ball on this? I'm curious if anyone has received the corrected insert. ANYONE???
