I think Decca recorded it.
Yes, it's Decca.
Here's an interesting article in Variety 'bout how Decca is targeting the college radio stations as a first step in getting SPRING AWAKENING onto mainstream radio waves.
That is a typo on the insert not listing Jonathan B. Wright as Hanschen. The person they credit was in SA when it was in workshops years ago. I was told that it is being corrected so those who have the cd with the mistake, own a collectors item. This info came from the theatre. So who the heck proofed it?
Ummm, I just got it and it's fabulous. I didn't realize how little I appreciated the orchestrations until now litening to it. WHat a beautiful score. I hope Duncan Sheik does more work in the theatre.
I wish the lyrics had character notation on them, would make for easier listening for those who haven't seen the show.
I like it so far. Need to have a proper sit down with it.

I love it! The music is wonderful and so are the voices!!
Just downloaded from iTUNES...love it!! I'm playing it for the 4th time already.

I have a question. I got the CD, liked it for the most party [I am not all the way through] but why is there such a long introduction for 'Mama Who Bore Me' and why is Guilty Ones not the first song after 'I Believe'?

I LOVE this cd. Like, really, I dont even know the story well at all (all I know is from the brief synopsis on the official site), and its STILL one of the best recordings I've heard in a long time. Fantastic music. I definitely forsee it being one of those recordings I can listen to multiple times a day and never get tired of
A. Yay for the typo/collectersness
B. sorry to Jonathan though.
C. I called every electronic store in my hometown (125000 people, biggest city in South dakota...) ONLY Best buy was carrying it today. They had one copy. The guy set it aside for me, so I sped there (unshowered, unshaven, and STARVING)
I got there, and it wasnt at the stand. My heart broke. But the studly Best Buy guy (I hope he reads this, lol) SEARCHED HIGH AND LOW for me, and found it. They were gonna make a divider card for the last one... LOL.

E. I finally got to listen to it in the car on the way home from work. The music is gorgeous and I burst out in tears. (I have had a rough week, okay?) I just wonder what all of the people who saw me are wondering...

I think "Mamma Who Bore Me" is a boring song to start the show, but I guess it works in the theater?
What is the Act 1 closer song?
I like most of it so far, but I'm not enthralled with it like I thought I would be, but I'm sure it will grow on me.

^I LOVE mama who bore me reprise the first one is pretty but def not one of my favorites or anything. But the reprise is sooo good. and I'm actually curious to know what the act 1 closer is too!
If I'm remembering correctly (and I might not be because honestly when I saw the show in previews I was pretty much just in a trance out of total awe and love for it) the Act I closer is "I Believe."

"Also, I think the album sounds COMPLETY different then the show! Some of the songs are slower, and some of the dialouge is messed up. I mean, I have seen the show about 6 times now and this sounds like a different show. I love this music, lyrics, everything but they sound so different on the cd."
That's because they recorded it in September, before they made any changes for Broadway. It's technically should be called the original Off-Broadway cast recording (although they did plug in the new song and, I guess, the adult voices?)

The album was recorded Oct. 5-6. Christine Estabrook's voice-over is the only "Adult" voice you hear, over the song "And Then There Were None."
That's the reason, if anyone was wondering, why all of the photos reflect the off-Broadway cast.
Why is Tom Deckman listed in the cast? He was in Good Vibrations.

He did the role in a workshop of Spring Awakening. It's an oversight on the proofreader's part.
I don't care for the way they mixed the "Mama Who Bore Me Reprise". It seems over-mixed and flat (not in pitch). It's too clean. It just doesn't really tickle the ear like when you hear it live. Toward the end of it all you can hear is Lilli Cooper. I think it would be great if they would record a live version of the show.
I also wish that some of the dialogue was left out of the songs. Some of the dialogue seems awkward out of context of the show. It works for "And Then There Were None" though since Christine Estabrook's monologue is so ensconced throughout the song but the little blurbs in the other songs bother me.
Overall I do enjoy the CD.

Favorite cast recording in a long time. This is amazing. I can't wait to see the show again.

Estabrook's voice is so soothing, it's like she's reading an audio book.

Is that Tom Deckman the same man who just stepped into Christian Borle's part in SPAMALOT?
