It is fun looking at old Playbills, even "vintage" ones like you received!
I sure wish we had the "Secret Garden" and "Miss Saigon" Playbills here at my old folks home. There are still a few of us ancient geezers here who saw those shows way back when they first came out. Of course our memories are fading and those Playbills might help settle some arguments, which when you're as old as we are can be life threatening...

MimiLovesRoger, there is no need to apologize! All of us old coots are just teasing you.
I clearly remember that when I was 16, 21 seemed really grown up and 44 seemed positively ancient.
Unfortunately I don't clearly remember much else these days. Just wait 'til you get old...

Posted: 11/22/06 at 3:58pmMimiLovesRoger, It's fine that you think those Playbills are vintage; but using your age as an excuse is just not a good idea. I'm 16 and certainly don't think your Playbills are vintage. So blaming the fact that you're grossly misinformed on your age is just...a no-no. Updated On: 11/22/06 at 03:58 PM

Posted: 11/22/06 at 4:02pmToo true. I was born in the 70s, but I'm not about to call something from 1971 "vintage."

I won't call them 'vintage' now.
They are simply older playbills of shows that are no longer on Broadway that my wonderful grandmother passed on to me yesterday evening.
(Totally not even being sarcastic...)

#38Hey you old codgers! My Grandma just gave me some ancient Playbills!
Posted: 11/22/06 at 5:03pmDoes your grandmother still have an interest in the theater, or has Broadway changed too much since the early 90s to appeal to her?

She still loves theatre. <3
She took me to NYC this summer and we saw 3 shows. She can't take a lot of time off from work, though. But she comes to watch me and my brothers when we're in shows (at our comm. theatre).

Well I'm 16, and I definitely wouldn't consider those vintage....
Anyway, that's really cool that your Grandma gave you those Playbills. My Grandma gave me quite a few of her old Playbills as well, I really treasure them. Especially the Playbill from the original production of Funny Girl

I'm alot older than many of you and I consider them vintage. And cool. And I saw all those shows and they were fantastic. And two decades from now, when you give your grandkids the programs from Rent and Sweeney and Wicked they'll think they're supercool.
Except for Wicked which I think is.... uh, not supercool, but that's just my opinion.
You should go on ebay to entertainemnt memorabilia, then theater, then playbills and look at the cool programs from the 1930's (you'll recognize many of the names) and start buying them. I really believe that theater programs are a perfect window into history AND one of the few collectibles that are still underpriced.
