So I attempted the lottery for DRS this morning, and lost. After debating for a while, I just went and got a $41.25 ticket for tonight's show. Literally sat in the second to last row in the theater (only 2 rows behind people who spent $71.25 - haha). But the view was great.
Oh my gosh this show is amazing. I am so glad I saw it. Let's put it this way - I was so blown away by it that at intermission I went to buy the cast album, something I have never done before. John Lithgow was out, which I didn't really care about, but his understudy Tom Galantich was fantastic. This was also my first time seeing Norbie - what a wonderfully hilarious actor he is! He earned that Tony and then some. I would love to see him pair up with Roger in something - they are both great goofy "sidekick" character actors.
They are also one of the sweetest casts I've had the pleasure of meeting. Greg was first to come out and was telling everyone who took a photo with him to send it to him for his website - how nice! Norbert and Sherie had to run but took the time to sign everyone's Playbill (they just couldn't stop for pictures). Sherie even apologized for having to leave so fast. Tom took an extra 5-10 minutes after everyone else but he was so nice. Joanna never came out but that was okay. And the stage doorman is so funny - does anyone know his name? He was great.
If you haven't seen this show yet - run to the Imperial and get a ticket.

Oh thank you so much! I wanted to write it down in my journal I'm keeping, but no one seemed to know and he went inside before I could ask. A bunch of girls declared him their NY boyfriend!

Glad you liked the show so much...did anyone say or did somebody ask why Joanna didn't come out?

No... I didn't ask or hear, but one girl was completely crushed. She apparently went out another exit as it was announced she had already gone after I had been waiting only a little bit.

Apparantly, Gleason rarely (if ever) signs at the stage door. I wonder why that is.
That doesn't really surprise me. No offense to Gleason fans...I love her, but that seems like something she would do. Poor girl...
Glad you enjoyed.
Ah, I love Greg Jbara. One of the nicest actors I've met at a stage door. And yep, I'm on his website, haha.
Joanna Gleason didn't come out the night I saw the show, either. Boo. I mean, it's all right, but it would have been cool to meet her.

Norbie and Roger! What a pair they'd be! How's this for an idea...when Nathan and Matthew decide to leave The Odd Couple, they are replaced by Norbie and Roger, respectively. Norb as Oscar and Roger as Felix...hysterical! Plus I think it would still sell well, 'cause Norbie's a Tony winner now and Roger's used to replacing Matty B.

If that's the same guy, he was hitting on my grandmother. Very amusing.
A question from an inexperienced lottery goer who's going to attempt this coming Friday: when do they call out the winners, and would one have enough time to go to TKTS to see if there were tickets availible, OR is it likely the box office would still have tickets availible (like the ones you got) just before the Friday night performance?
that was kind of jumbled, but thanks in advance,

They call the names 2 hours prior, so you still have plenty of time to try TKTS or another box office, or the DRS box office. I don't know if they'd have tickets then for the night show, since I got mine at noon for an 8 o'clock show. But the rear mezz was not full at all when I saw it so you probably have a really good shot.
Good luck!

Sounds like you had a lot of fun!
kevins the stage door manager. and DRS kicks ass!!! im going for a third time the 26th! so excited!! soooo glad you enjoyed it!!
Jessica, I sat in the very back row! haha. I agree that they are great seats though, the theatre is so small you get a great view of the stage, plus they're cheap.
I must insist that you go back to see John Lithgow though. I was there for the matinee on Tony night and his performance of "Love Sneaks In" was heart breaking. He's such a great actor and also very nice at the stage door.

I really do want to go back and see it with John. My parents are coming up at the end of the week to spend a few days in the city (and then to take me back home...
) and I'm trying to talk them into going to see a couple of shows. Or maybe coming up later in the summer. They need to see this show and I need to see it with John.
And you were in the last row on Wednesday? That's so funny! I was in section 4 - the second in from the left. Were you close by? What a small world!
