Very good point. To suggest AL is responsible for Wicked's success is like suggesting everyone at Sydmonton Festival in 1985/6 was responsible for Phantom's success. Writers and directors chat about projects all the time.

AL really seems desperate just now for attention. What award is he craving?

Good news if Anyone Can Whistle is on its way back though. It's a fantastic score.

Though I find it interesting you find his arrogance acceptible but a mere ACKNOWLEDGMENT of said arrogance on his behalf prompts such defense. Birds of a feather...

The arrogance derives mostly from the original post in which the ASSUMPTION is made that I haven't read those books, which, of course, I have. As should any self-respecting theatre fan. Their recommendation in a thread about Laurents is illusory of said arrogance.

That said, neither book is (thanks Namo) anywhere near as entertaining as EITHER of Laurents' tomes, though Hart's is interesting in its own, less dishy, way.

P, if you're gonna purple up your prose like a convict trying to impress a parole board with your erudition, you might as well know it's not "That said, neither book are anywhere near..." but rather "is anywhere near...."
