That trailer was amazing. Almost orgasmic.
And the lyric is, "Hip coffee bars."

The tour set at the train station is HATED isn't it? But Tommy Tune did it himself so I assume much of the original staging was the same?

NICE! So I guess with this song along with "Be Italian", we've heard every song in the movie! lol
The tour staging was identical to the original Broadway staging. The only thing that changed was that the ladies sat on suitcases instead of the spa cubes used in the Broadway production.
That's it.
Everything was performed identically.
Also, Tommy Tune's reasoning for switching the setting location was simple: suitcases and train station = touring production.
Wow. I think I say this every time something "Nine"-related is released, but... I get more excited for this everyday.
I THINK there was a new number for Guido in the tour that was very out-of-place. It was a rock-type song (!), and I'm not sure if it stayed in the show throughout the tour. It was written expressly for Franchi. Honestly, I had never heard of this before but someone at ATC makes a very compelling argument that it was included.
Anyone know anything about this new Guido songs for the tour?
Anyway, the reason few of the original cast members did the tour was that there was a friendly rivalry between the two casts. Apparently, Tune thought the concept and execution of the Broadway production was so dependent on those particular performers that he wanted a concept that was less hi-falutin' and more easy to play for the performers in the hinterlands on tour. I wouldn't put that sort of snobbery past Tune, talented and lovely as he may be.
I wonder if the Guido rock song had any relation to the new Stephanie rock/pop/disco "CI"?

pgenre and brodyfosse, i cant thank you two enough for the info you share not only here on the nine board, but all over the boards. it is so interesting.
but on the topic of nine, how did you two find out such interesting information?
For those of us who were dying to hear some dialogue, there's a 37 second clip on the movie's page on the ABC official site that appears while waiting for the trailer. I'm not sure exactly how to find it but it's on there.
Everyone sounds and looks terrific! Especially Penelope Cruz who already made me laugh with her line at the end.

I swear I heard about that new song for the Nine tour as well.
I'm confused though--BrodyF says the staging was identical except the set, but Pgenre says it was simplified/changed? I know I've read more than a few people say they were disappointed with the tour which seems odd if it was just cuz it was in a station and not a spa (and surely this means Germans at the Spa was different, doesn't it?)
are there any pics of the train station set?
Damn. Years ago I had a beautiful photo of the tour set and I'm pretty sure I threw it out. It was actually quite beautiful. It was in a Theatre Crafts magazine. It quoted set designer Lawrence Miller as saying that the original set would be impossible to tour with since it was stark white. All that white would require constant paint touch-ups and repair.
