Getting more desperate for live theater, albeit recorded, as the weeks and months go on. Curious what people think about the NT: National Theater at Home service. Also, on a similar note, anyone know where on can legally find the Imalda Staunton Virginia Woolf?
They presented Angels in America and showed it in movie theaters, I don't see why they cannot put it in their library.

I'm sure licensing fees have an effect as to what is available, but I'm pretty unimpressed. The subscription costs would be reasonable if they had more content, but unless they rotate what's available, the base content available is underwhelming. And while they offered War Horse for a very limited time, it was not available outside the UK. I do like that they offer rentals, though I think the price point is a little on the high side for that, since for $3 more you have unlimited access for a month.
Once it has more content I can see it being very successful.

Was on the fence...not any more. What a perfect treat for a snow day like today!

Watched Part 1 last night. Was so happy to relive this production. Some performances that I loved on stage don’t translate especially well (especially Denise Gough), but the production is truly a marvel.

It's nice that they have added a monthly subscription, which wasn't offered when they launched. I still maintain that it doesn't have enough content to justify an annual subscription, or even more than a one month subscription. I'm a little surprised they added Angels in America...I'm holding out for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time.
Just subscribed. Primarily to watch ANGLES. Fingers crossed that they add their production of A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE soon!

I watched Streetcar and ac couple of others, The Deep Blue Sea and Amadeus , and found the productions overblown. Streetcar was staged as if it were a boxing match with every scene another round. The stage for Deep Blue Sea was far too large for a claustrophobic little play. Diisappionting, esp. from the National Theatre.
