And yes - so very happy to see all the love for Reed Birney. If there's one win I want more than any other this year, it's his.
An Idina upset would be interesting - a great performance that was more complicated than simply belting. However, if there was an upset it should be Kelli. I know I've said this before but this show is her NEXT TO NORMAL, GREY GARDENS or GYPSY. It's a shame it doesn't look like she will be recognised appropriately.
If there are upsets I'd root for, it'd be for Sutton to take Actress in a Musical (as I've written elsewhere, she stood head and shoulders as the best actress in the category for me, followed by Jessie, Mary and Kelli; Idina is lucky she got nominated), Paul Chahidi in Featured Actor in a Play, Samuel Barnett in Lead Actor in a Play (really any of them besides Cranston would be an upset and a better pick in my eyes) or Gentleman's Guide to take Score.

I agree Kelli winning wouldn't be an upset. Tracy Letts winning last year when almost everyone thought Tom Hanks had it in the bag, or Idina's first win, were all upsets. Kelli and Jessie are in a tight race. Either could win, though I think Jessie will inch ahead.
I would be SOOOO happy if Menzel pulled an upset
If there's going to be an upset (which excludes Mueller and O'hara as they are very much in the race), it would (and should) go to Foster.
Well, I would just be overjoyed if Idina won. To me, she and Sutton are giving the most raw, real, and vulnerable performances in this category this year, and that's what appeals to me the most.
Idina is giving an amazing performance in If/Then... I love Kelli O'Hara to death (look at my avatrar), but Menzel's performance in If/Then is simply out of this world and left me speechless.
i have never once enjoyed Neil Patrick Harris in ANYTHING he has done- be it screen or stage. but i figured i would see this show since everyone is soo bonkers about it. but i would see it till mid June. i don't like NPH at all, but hopefully seeing the show will help me understand why soo many people like him.
Audra has it, but i would LOVE for LaTanya to walk away with the award!
Here's Riedel's predictions. He oddly predicts best book but not score. He is also predicting Emond.

There are really only three awards I feel invested in this year. Best Orchestrations and Score for JRB and Best Actress for Kelli. I'm not all that nervous for JRB, but I'll be biting my nails until they open that envelope for Best Actress!!
As much as loved Audra it would be very exciting and just as deserved if LaTanya pulled an upset!
"That threw me for a minute, too. but I think he meant "additional voters..."
So you think he meant "other voters" or "some voters" when he wrote "more voters"? Really!?
The surprise here is that with 5% of the voters, Richardson came within one vote of McDonald. That almost suggests that anything could happen.
Heally didn't say much of anything about featured performances in plays, did he?
I'm with you, Whizzer. I feel very invested in anything Bridges could win.
How accurate is Riedel usually??? (I sense he's not the best barometer of this stuff, but I wanted to check here.)

Hi After Eight! So wonderful to hear from you this morning.
I'd invite you to the Tony party I'm going to on Sunday, but I should warn you that it's going to full of Bridges fans. The OBCR will surely be playing as we pre-game before the broadcast.
I even ordered a special Bridges themed dessert that I'll post pics of, but don't want to spoil the surprise for some of the posters here who will be at the party.

As much as it's Kelli's time, and as wonderful as all of the performances are, I think that Sutton's performance is really the one that deserves the award. Her entire performance is just something else, especially from 'Look At Me' onwards.
I'll be genuinely happy with whoever wins, but I am definitely rooting for Sutton
The line that bothers me most in that article is this.
"Yet “Gentleman’s Guide” has been a box-office dud for most of its run, and some tour presenters outside New York — who make up about 10 percent of Tony voters — said they were voting against the show to prevent it from hitting the road and possibly flopping in their theaters."
The award should be about what the best musical is not the one that masses want to go to because they already know the music and don't have to think. The Tony's need another massive over haul and take away some of the tour presenters votes.

The only truly accurate and correct thing that After8 spouts: BRIDGES... is a big ol' stinking pile of SH*T. That much is undeniable.
After Eight! It's been a while since I heard from you! You've been sorely missed, and your reappearance has made my morning! Tell me, what shows/actors/awards are you looking forward to this year?
