NY Trip: What shows would you recommend?

Hello all! I'm new to this board, but I figured it would be fun to get some second opinions. So my grandmother is taking me to New York as a graduation trip. (Super excited!) The trip will be from June 19 to June 23. She has bought tickets to If/Then, and is going to buy some for Les Miserables, too. Since we are staying for five days, she has asked me what other shows I would like to see. Given all the new things that are opening this season, I cannot decide what else to see, so I was hoping some of you may be able to assist me in making my choice. What shows would you recommend, musicals in particular? Please note that neither of us are picky, so any content that is particularly "offensive" in a show won't bother us. Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the board!
Are you restricting yourself to B'way? Or are you up for something a little different Off Broadway?

Posted: 3/27/14 at 1:03pmCheck out A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder for sure, I absolutely adored it. Matilda and Pippin are also wonderful.

Posted: 3/27/14 at 1:57pmThank you for the suggestions! To answer a couple questions: I am graduating high school, if that helps any, and we would be willing to see something Off-Broadway as well. I have been texting my grandmother, and she agrees that something like Pippin or Matilda would be fun to see. :)

Posted: 3/27/14 at 3:20pmI would definitely include Pippin. Great show but keep in mind, the leads are changing next week so doublecheck that they are successfully settling in. Try the lotteries for Kinky Boots and Book of Mormon. Nothing to lose there. If you want to take a break from the musicals and see a play, All The Way (especially if you like history) and Of Mice and Men (assuming the reviews are good) might be worth considering.

Posted: 3/27/14 at 7:54pmKinky Boots is amazing, Pippin is good, and I'd see Carly Rae Jepsen and Fran Drescher in Cinderella. I say stay away from Matilda.

Posted: 3/27/14 at 8:26pmI'd say of the newer shows, Bridges of Madison County, Gentleman's Guide and After Midnight (since you already have If/Then) And of the longer running shows, Pippin definitely! (I disagree about staying away from Matilda - I loved it - but I can see where it might be an acquired taste.)

Posted: 3/27/14 at 8:43pmI'm graduating from high school this year too and actually just spend a week in NYC. I would definitely recommend Pippin, Matilda and Kinky Boots. All incredible shows that I thoroughly enjoyed and I saw Pippin with my grandmother who adored it!

Posted: 3/27/14 at 9:01pmPut Matilda at the top of your list. An absolute *must* see. Matilda and If/Then are the best things playing on Broadway IMO.

Posted: 3/27/14 at 9:37pmI agree with Kinky Boots ( a MUST) & Matilda (though with Matilda, I would definitely recommend getting familiar with the music before you go). I am probably one of the few here who was "meh" about Pippin but since so many people love it, I would go.

Posted: 3/27/14 at 10:29pmHello! I'm about your age. I would recommend Matilda, Pippin, and Cabaret. I also enjoyed The Bridges of Madison County, but it might not be your taste. Have a great time while you're here!

Posted: 3/28/14 at 1:29amI second nicnyc. Bridges of Madison County! :) Truly beautiful. I see A LOT of shows but this is the one that sticks with me and keeps me going back. Love the score, the cast, and the way the story is told.
