thanks a lot guys!
my mom kind of wants to check out karmine's, i hear things about it all the time.. is it as good as i've read?
i may also look into zanzibar or marseille. everything sounds good!
and yes i HAVE been to sardi's and joe allen. both excellent, i just want to try something new! =)
thanks!
Carmines takes reservations for 3 or 4 or more
You cannot book for 2 & they serve family style.Without a reservation, you may not get in.
Try Bubba Gumps near Hard Rock. The food is surprisingly good & the atmosphere is great
I've really enjoyed this thread. I'm headed for NYC the first week of April and I have bookmarked several of the restaurants that have been suggested.
Another vote for John's Pizzeria. Be prepared for a bit of a wait though.

Pigalle, corner of 8th Avenue and 48th St. Open 24 hours a day, interesting menu, reasonable prices, clean.
there's an amazing sushi place called haru somewhere in there. other than that John's pizza is always sweet.
Uncle Nick's

Their food is way yummy (Greek)... if you feel like going an extra block or two...

The Edison is my favorite. I've actually done breakfast, lunch, and dinner there in a single day. And, no, it's not because I'm stubborn -- they're GOOD.

I went to Carmine's on a reservation for two last year...is this a new policy of theirs?

Around the Neil Simon/Studio 54 area (not sure where exactly) there's some place called HELLO DELI. I didn't eat there, but being a total Herman-iac, I was totally phyched to find it.
Does anyone have any suggestions for Easter Brunch? Are any of the hotels offering 'special' brunches for that day (all the big ones here in Detroit do).... would be for 2 adults and an 11 yr old daughter (and yes, she still believes... I have no intention of raining on her parade).
Thanks for all the other suggestions as well.
For Easter Brunch, I suggest Fiorello's on the Upper West Side (right across from Lincoln Center).
I second Bubba Gumps. The food is really good, and the staff is very friendly.
Don't do Tavern on the Green for Easter Brunch ... they are a factory ... get you in, get you out.
As for restaurants in the theatre district, Scarlotta's (or Scarlotto's) is an excellent Italian restaurant. Its right across the street from Company (but I don't remember what street that is).
John's Pizza is always really fun. It's on the same block as Sardies
can anyone elaborate on "Joe Allen's". I am about 80% chance i am going there
Does anyone have any suggestions for Easter Brunch?
I don't know that they're doing anything extra-special for Easter brunch, but you might wanna check out Sarabeth's for brunch- they're yummy.

Not for Easter at all, but in general I'm a fan of Dallas BBQ. Right off TS yet very cheap. You can get a quarter chicken dinner for $4.99. Plus they have great regular and texas size drinks (pina colada, strawberry daquiri).
all great suggestions!
just heard from mom.. she wants "someplace nice inside" as well as good food. oy.
so that rules out the deli's and places.
marseille is still appealing, anyone have the adress?
Easter Brunch: Go for it and hit Jean Georges at the Trump Hotel or Fleur de Sel in Gramercy.
Try menupages.com drama queen....just do a search
Why not take her to The Russian Tea Room? DB Bistro Moderne and Beacon are also very nice places in the midtown area--or The Modern at the MoMA.
My suggestions are for foodies, not general audiences. So they might not be what you want.
Marseilles is at 630 Ninth Ave (corner of 44th St). Very nice restaurant, pretty inside, and good food and wine.

Carnegie Deli has great sandwiches and is just a fun place to be.
I have posted this before. BICE is one of my favorites. It is not right in the theatre district. But not very far. It is on 54th between Madison & 5th. Pricey, but good. I love their Carpaccio.
