Reportedly, people are leaving the Cort Theatre mid-show at Will Ferrell's You're Welcome America... for reasons of the wee-wee?

Posted: 2/7/09 at 9:26amIf done cleverly enough, nothing can be tasteless. When something is genuinely funny it tends to excuse a lot of other things.

Posted: 2/7/09 at 9:29amWow that's a lot of penis mentions in one New York Times article!

Please! There are a lot more tasteless things happening in Broadway theaters than a projection of a penis.

Posted: 2/7/09 at 10:28amIf these people were offended by the projection of a penis on a screen and walked out, how did they react when the actual Bush, another giant dick, appeared on their televisions?

SIX people have walked out. That means that how many have STAYED?
This is just "news" that's going to bring a lot more people into the show!

Posted: 2/7/09 at 2:21pmWait... six people only? When I saw BKLYN: The Musical more than half a dozen left in the middle of the show, and I'm sure we were all begging to see someone's penis to make the evening better!

Posted: 2/7/09 at 2:34pmJust six people? Oh god, there were times when that would've been considered a great day at my last job (Second Stage). And you're right, Pippin, in general penis offends people enough to leave a theater, whereas girly parts are perfectly fine.

Yes, the NY Times article says that "so far" six audience members have left. Big woop.
It's about time men's body parts are exploited and objectified! You're all so right. What a double standard!
P.S. DCR, re: tasteless I knew what you meant. I was making a "statement."

Posted: 2/7/09 at 4:42pmMore walked out of Take Me Out when there were ACTUAL PENISES on stage. When I was there one older lady screamed out "OH MY GOD!" during the first shower scene. She didn't leave her seat though, she just constantly craned her neck to get a better view!

Agreed...This sounds to me like what Frank Wildhorn & Crew back from "Dracula, the musical". Remember when Kelli O'Hara had that extremely brief nudity scene (away from the audience from what I remember), but they tried to make it seem like a big deal...remember the "G-rated" matinees or whatever (HAHAHA); I guess whatever you try to do to get people see the show...!

She was upstage, and facing upstage, apparently nude (she wore a g-string). While it was briefly discussed, there never were "g-rated" performances. It never changed.
