Just for the record, I tend to not do insults, so "New to the board" was not meant to be at all insulting. Some people have been here for years, some for many years, some for a year some for a few months. But everyone at one time was "new to the board" and I don't know why that would be considered an insult.
There was a debate on this site years ago regarding this exact topic and it included myths about when Reagan first used the word AIDS in public, and how he treated Rock Hudson and I even remember posting the increase in AIDS funding under Reagan (I think it was over 1,000%) and quoting a letter from Hudson's partner at the time of his death praising the Reagans for their comforting words to him and to Hudson. It was basically "The Facts" v. "What Larry Kramer says" and "The Facts" fell on deaf ears. There were even people who criticized Reagan for not bringing up AIDS when it was not even called AIDS, it was called a "mysterious new cancer". But Reagan was supposed to have addressed it!
And, as I usually try to do, I cited my sources so people could check for themselves. But those facts got the same basic reaction that any facts here get when they go against the liberal mindset ---
PISH! (In addition to a SLEW of personal attacks against me.)
(BTW, despite what others may say, I have never had any other account here or name other than Mikey.)

It was called that for a week. And then it was called GRID. And the G was for Gay so that couldn't be addressed by somebody like Reagan. There wasn't a special name for poisoned Tylenol but EVERY resource was marshaled to eradicate that. But poisoned Tylenol was killing consumers, not gays, whom nobody cared about and that was a tone set by that administration. Tylenol victims were "us" and gays were "them" and Reagan made it very clear from day one of his administration that your everyday upstanding American no longer had to pretend to care about "them".
The systems that were eventually put into place under Clinton and that continued to solidify in the years since are what were summoned to contain Ebola and are currently being used on Zika. So, on behalf of the thousands of gay men who were left to die after being abandoned by their government and the people in their lives who had access to power but didn't raise their voices: YOU'RE WELCOME, AMERICA. THANKS FOR NOTHING.

The only thing matching Mikey's description I can find dates back to 2013. No sources are cited.

That's because (and we note he has not denied it) that the post he is referring to was under a different screen name which he denied ever having, which probably means he was banned from BWW for the umpteenth time and came back as a new (exactly the same) personality for the umpteenth+1 time.

i still want to know why the poster put an exclamation point in the title of the thread. doesn't offend me... just trying to follow the logic. it would be nice if he actually revisted the threads he creates to answer my question. thanks

Why am I not surprised at some of the comments made here? Really low class . If this offends some, that's life.

As theater lovers, don't we understand some things are left to us to interpret? To me, one of punctuation's functions is to leave us room for our thoughts. That's why The Electric Company song went, "Puncutation! Punk punk punk Punctuation. They are the little marks that use their influence, to help a sentence make more sense!" See? Influence, help. Nothing definitive, just assistance to arrive at our own conclusions. Nancy and her husband taught us the importance of that kind of freedom, didn't they?

I agree with Namo, the exclamation point is up for interpretation. I gave my thoughts earlier in the thread. Jeffrey also posted "Robert Stigwood Dies at 81! " when he passed. I don't think he had an issue with Mr. Stigwood.

Hilary Clinton has apologized for misrepresenting the facts about the reagan's efforts in the AIDS crisis. Just as had been stated in this thread, she said there were "low-key" efforts by Nancy and Ronnie. No one here has given sources. Ms Clinton cited no evidence and revoked her statement.
Lets put to bed the idea that the reagan's inaction is a myth.
They behaved despicably.
Officially it was a laughing matter
