Hello, My name is Nathan Halpert. I have been performing since the age of 8. I have done theater from school plays to the professional level with shows such as: Into the Woods, Cinderella, Addams Family, Little Shop Of Horrors, Odd Couple ( male and female version ) and much more.
My High School is going to put on a production of Once Apone a Mattress and I need help finding an audition song. I really want to get the role of Sir Harry, the lover and night. I can sing tenor mainly but I can also sing Baritone if needed. Auditions are not until after Thanks Giving Break of next year but there is no problem in starting earlier. If you get any ideas an great audition song from a musical or a good monologue could be.

"Once Upon A Mattress" is a fun show. A good audition song would be one that shows your range.
How about "Let's Go Fly a Kite" from Mary Poppins.
Why not sing one of your character's songs from the show? Both "In A Little While" and "Yesterday I Loved You" have lovely melodies. Granted they're both duets but they don't need to be.

Can that song also be translated into a tenor voice. The regular version is baritone and sir harry is a tenor. Is there any music or videos of people singing the part in tenor?
thanks.

Absolutely do not sing a song from the show unless they have asked you to!
Also, Sir Harry is a parody of a certain type of leading men, he’s strapping, handsome but dumb as a chair. Singing the right range is one thing but if you show you can deliver a comedic song, in which the character takes themselves completely seriously then you’ll tick all the boxes.
It’s worth noting that whilst Harry is dumb and a bit of a peacock, he isn’t unpleasant, he’s not a Gaston for example.

Similar type of character, shows range. Second half of the recording is the male role. Deceptively difficult to sing well. I've used this as an audition song many times (with cuts).
"It Only Takes A Moment" to show off the vocals. "Me" from Beauty and the Beast to show off the acting.
Again from Hollywood/Ukraine is an inspired choice. "And yet...again and again-and-again!!!" Bliss!
Constantine's refrain and verse in Just Like That from the same show would also work well.
I played Samovar roughly 25 years ago and it remains my favorite role and show I've ever performed. It's a shame it is rarely produced (mainly because it's so difficult to cast). It's unique, charming and hilarious. Ripe material for a Roundabout revival.

Wonders of Wonders from Fiddler.
Do I Love You Because Your Beautiful from Cinderella
I Didn't Know A Day I Didn't Love You from Two by Two.

Another deceptively difficult song to sing.
