If it does come in this year, I'm crossing my fingers they have a non-standard performance sked with a Thursday mat or Sunday eve or something. I was holding a slot in my April trip for Dead Outlaw, but now I'm thinking I have to add Maybe Happy Ending based on WOM.

"Aside from needing a theatre, there’s also the fact that David Cromer is obligated to Goodnight, and Good Luck, which has an opening night of April 3. It makes him effectively unavailable during the entire window of time when a show angling to open before Tony cutoff would be rehearsing and starting previews."
They're still trying for this season. Not everything is in place but that's the goal.
If that's the case, that is a very difficult schedule with Cromer directing. He'll be in rehearsals for Good Night for all of February and maybe some of January, as they have a March 12 start.
They could, of course, either lose Cromer entirely (which seems very unlikely) or hire a co-director that will carry on in Cromer's stead using what he's already done.
"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."
Michael Grief directed three shows last season, but they opened about six weeks apart and one was co-directed. They were also all coming off tryout productions, and GNaGL doesn't have a previous production.
