The hatred spewed over this webseries on here, entertains me more than the series itself does. But I thought it was a cute episode. (OK, Max's porn star mustache did get me to watch...)

Posted: 7/24/11 at 9:18pmIt's not really hatred...it's just painful indifference towards a mediocre series constantly shoved down this board's throat. More than half of the posts are made, not by people commenting on the series, but by the creator plugging his show, and a friend who joined just to further plug and bump.

I liked it... I think... It like Battery's Down meets Billy Green... a great character mixed with some by the number plots and (now) a ton of random guest stars. I mean, great for you in finding people of merit who see something in you. I'll be the first to admit I am NOT one of those people of merit (incoming freshman at MMC, woot woot), however, I feel I have enough talent to recognize it in others. As of now, the strongest point of the series is Saxton, himself, in my opinion on par with Billy Green and more well defined than Jake from Battery's Down. The character's dialogue is also superb, and the series plays like a true character actor let loose (as a playrighting/ directing/ acting major, I give complete props to you for accomplishing all three at the same time). However, some restraint may be needed. (To use another theatre metaphor) This show is kind of playing like The Addams Family: a GREAT character role without the story to do him justice.
My advice? Find a co-writer who really understands dramatic structure. Develop a clear outline for this character's arc, and use the musical moments which as of now consume the episode as more tinsel on the tree rather than the branch. What I describe might sound too heavy handed for such a fun, cute show, but look what structure has done for Submissions Only, it makes the comedic moments shine even more. I like where this could go, just get the courage to make it great.
And everyone here dislikes the show for one reason, they ARE Saxton Black. In all honesty, who isn't? Props to you for going for your dream.

It's why I am so eager to promote it here- for the constructive criticism. Broadway-lovers are obviously my target, and I am very interested in every opinion that could help craft the series. Thank you again for your words.

I only watched the first episode and I like it; I think it has some funny and cute moments.
Saxon Black definitely reminds me of Rachel Berry personality wise and Gwen Kennedy really has a lovely voice.
I did feel like it needed a bit of editing. I don't know much about these things so I'm talking as a mere spectator; I felt like it was a tiny bit too long for a web series.
Good luck with this!

Saxon Black is auditioning for "The Glee Project"!
Check out his audition, and possibly even "like" it.
"Glee" could use a little Star Power.

I like your show-its very sweet and you are charming. I think you have a lot of potential.
Im not sure if you intention is to work on Broadway (stage) or TV, but if you are looking to sing live you need to work on your vocals. There is no auto-tune on stage and your vocals are a little rough. It seems like you are starting your training and if you commit it will all pay off.
I wish you all the best. Good luck!!! :)

Thank you so much for the feedback, Bettyboy.
Believe me, I am very aware of the areas in which I need work, and I am currently working my behind off as a Music Theatre major at an INCREDIBLE school to make the improvements I know I need.
Thank you again for your kind words and helpful criticism! I appreciate it.
