Oh, I'm well aware of how well IATSE pays for things like this- I was talking more about the inconvenience of having to pack all that stuff up only to move it across Times Square. But again, it's good money!

For the record, I never seriously thought that SpongeBob would move and wasn't suggesting it moving there. I was suggesting it just plain opening in the Marquis as a new show. My post was intended as a joke post, in that I was predicting that the new show for the theater would be a show that I supposedly did not realize was already open, based on year-old predictions from old threads where tons of people were saying over and over again that SpongeBob was eyeing the Marquis and would take it for its initial opening before that ended up being wrong when it took the Palace. It seems the fact that it was a joke post didn't really go through. I didn't intend for it to be taken seriously.

Dreamgirls will take a mid-size Shubert House-Belasco, Longacre, Barrymore or the Hudson spring '19. The Savoy in the UK seats 1198.



OR the Nederlanders will fill it with some magic or holiday show fall-winter till a spring show comes in for late winter -spring '19.

I don't get what makes it so undesirable to a producers? Most every seat is a good sightline. It's got great visibility and street traffic.

I do think the theater itself doesn't have the best "feel" to it, but I don't think that makes it undesirable. I don't think Hamilton is doing well because it's at the Rodgers or that Margaritaville failed because of the Marquis. Trust me, if Hamilton were playing in Astoria, people would figure out how to get there. It's the product they want, not the location.

I think it feels a lot like the Sondheim, and that seems to be doing just fine. So I don't really get it. The only show that didn't really suit it was Follies, I think.

I DO think that there's a bit of self-fulfilling prophecy with many "cursed houses." Yes, some DO have distant stages or second balconies, but a hit will bring crowds.

AND as seasoned producers avoid these theaters, that leaves them open for less-experienced hands and more uncertain shows. Eventually, there will be a hit and the curse will be broken and move on to another house after a dearth of hits there.

Exactly, Mark. If Hamilton were playing at a black box on Staten Island people would figure it out. This is a theater smack dab in the middle of Times Square. Do you think tourist are thinking "It's in a hotel...." no. If they want to see the product, they will.

Actually that hat wouldn’t surprise me at all. Webber said at the end of March he had some exciting announcement to make in about a months time. It wouldn’t surprise me that he announced I on the tonys red carpet. He loves to talk about his next project or the next show coming in. They are honouring him at the Tony’s as well so it all seems fitting. And the tour finishes September 18ish. Could move in to start previews in October. Til March or a 10 or 18 month run (kinda like what miss Saigon did)

Oh, God, I hope not. I'm not a huge ALW fan but I'll admit he has some great scores... but LND ain't one of them.
