re: Next up for the MARQUIS?

since when does "rumoured" mean taken?
maxie are you saying "THE TIMES" is waiting for LeStat to close?

re: Next up for the MARQUIS?

I'm almost certain that once Lestat closes, the next tenant for the Palace will be "Princesses". The lead producer for that show co-owns the theater.

re: Next up for the MARQUIS?

It was NOT reported in the Daily News that DROWSY is going to the Marquis - they said it was rumored. Who knows if it will go there or not, but let's get the facts straight.

re: Next up for the MARQUIS?

Marquis cursed?

If any theatre on Broadway is cursed, I would place my bets on the Minskoff...

re: Next up for the MARQUIS?

The Music Box seems to be cursed for musicals (for quite a few reasons). Other than Blood Brothers, the last bunch of musicals there have significantly flopped... In My Life, Amour, State Fair, Swingin On a Star, Welcome to the Club, Mail...
[title of show] on Broadway. it's time. believe.

re: Next up for the MARQUIS?

Truth be told, if we look from a financial-only standpoint, we could probably stipulate that half of all broadway houses are cursed.

re: Next up for the MARQUIS?

This is from a Variety article published today about The Times They Are a Changing. Of course, Lestat is now confirmed to come in, but here's further indication that the show looks likely to end up at the Palace for the '06-07 season, if Lestat folds quickly.

http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117937384?categoryid=15&cs=1

"In residence at the Globe since Dec. 8 with music arranger-orchestrator Michael Dansicker, music director Henry Aronson and designers Santo Loquasto (sets-costumes), Donald Holder (lighting) and Francois Bergeron (sound), Tharp is readying the show for an expected Broadway run, probably in the 2006-07 season.

But it could come as early as this spring if the troubled "Lestat" falls out of the Nederlander-owned Palace before Tony-eligibility deadline. Still, Tharp says it's too early to speculate on the show's future."
Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

re: Next up for the MARQUIS?

I think moving Drowsey into the Marquis is the best choice... Sutton did a half decent job selling the theatre when she was a noname. I think she can probally sell it better now.

re: Next up for the MARQUIS?

Is it a good season to open Chaperone in?

Color Purple
Jersey Boys
Wedding Singer
Tarzan

La Chanze
Benanti
Friedman
LuPone
Chita
Gambatese...

I think the Producers might want to balance this season's shows with obtaining a Broadway Theatre...

We will see...

re: Next up for the MARQUIS?

I think it would be smart to open....it is the only thing closest to the traditional Broadway musical

re: Next up for the MARQUIS?

This actually a terrible season for new shows. We NEED Drowsey. It will spice things up, and definitely spice up the Tony competition.

re: Next up for the MARQUIS?

Please PLEASE tell me you're kidding about the Red Shoes story in the EWF Musical.
Nothing precious, plain to see, don't make a fuss over me. Not loud, not soft, but somewhere inbetween. Say sorry, just let it be the word you mean.

re: Next up for the MARQUIS?

"Hot Feet features a book by Heru Ptah and music and lyrics by Maurice White of Earth, Wind and Fire fame. Casting is expected to be announced shortly.

Hot Feet, according to a press statement, is a "Faustian tale about a beautiful young dancer — Kalimba, whose whole life’s dreams and ambition are to be a Broadway dancer. Kalimba is cajoled to dance with a pair of magical and enchanted red shoes; when she puts them on they begin to take control of the talented dancer’s fate."
