Hi-
My husband and I are seeing the first preview of The Band's Visit Oct 7, which is the day before our anniversary. Can anyone recommend a restaurant near the theatre district within a $200-$300 price range? Any cuisine is fine, but with at least one vegetarian dish.
Thanks!
Our top 3 go to restaurants before Theater are: Glass House Tavern across the Street from the Barrymore (ask for a booth upstairs) , Blue Fin or Thalia (ask for a banquette in the elevated section) ... RSVP a must!

Tony's di Napoli, great food and I am vegetarian myself so never had a problem there- 147 W 43rd St, New York City, NY 10036. A+++ Italian food and nice ambiance for a special night out. Enjoy the show!

Also, Trattoria Trecolori across the street for a good, decently-priced Italian meal.
Trattoria Trecolori would be my recommendation, as well. Good food and it's right across the street.
Oh, wait, you want expensive. Maybe Le Bernardin? I personally don't like it but it's certainly popular.

That will be over $300 for 2 just for dinner!
Ha, okay. I've only been for lunch.

Definitely doesn't need to be expensive- just that we'd be willing to go that high for a special occasion!

As someone else mentioned, go to Trattoria Trecolori. Le Rivage is also a good French restaurant. Trust me. On my first ever visit to NYC, I went to many restaurants all over the theatre district. Trattoria Trecolori and Le Rivage stood out to me. I'm going back in a few weeks and am definitely going back to those two.

Scarlatto right across the street. When you reserve, tell them you don't want to be upstairs.
also well worth considering: Becco, Molyvos, Lattanzi, Toloache, Chez Josephine

If you are looking for convenience as well, three of the options mentioned above are directly across the street from the theater...which who cares if the weather happens to be nice but if it's miserable out, it's a relief to be so close.
The Glass House, Scarlatto and Trattoria Tricolori are all good options and you can find the menus online if you are concerned about vegetarian dishes. Personally if you are thinking Italian, I would chooseTrattoria.

I've eaten at all three restaurants recently (within the last 3 months), and all of their menus skew VERY meat/fish heavy. Just a warning.

.......which is why I suggested checking out the menus. Plus vegetarian to one person does not necessary mean the same thing to another. Eggs, dairy??
I'm certainly not pushing these restaurants if they prefer to go elsewhere. I just noted they were across the street if that was of interest.
I assume when people say vegetarian, they mean no animal protein. Nowadays, vegan is no longer an exotic term, so I assume if someone eats absolutely no animal byproducts (eggs, cheese, etc), they identify themselves as such.
Looking at the menu for Trattoria Trecolori, I'm seeing 4 vegetarian dishes, all pasta. For Scarlatto, 5 vegetarian dishes, also all pasta. Glass House has exactly one vegetarian entree.
