I'm sorry...but I need to gush. I came across Seth's weekly "Obsessed" videos on Playbill and I adored Parker before I saw this but after seeing her just being candid, I am a gay man in love with a diva hahaha
I honestly think she would be a GREAT Fanny Brice in "Funny Girl" cuz I know her name has been brought up. She is pretty but in a unconventional way, she can belt, and her comedic timing seems great. I know I'm gushing but just wanted to share this video and see what you guys think about the whole Fanny thing
*I dont know how to add links so I'm just gonna copy and paste and pray it works*

Good for you. Didnt realize that your opinion was fact.
I agree she'd be a terrific Fanny Brice - the best of all the names I've heard mentioned. She could also be Ellen DeGeneres AS Fanny Brice.

Do a little research, fingerslake. Flying monkey is basically a troll. People in the Picture isn't a very good play, but Nicole does very well with what she's given.
I am such a huge fan of hers! Incredibly talented and very underrated. She needs her own television show, asap. I've always thought Parker is a star and became one of the only reasons to watch MadTV towards the end of its run.
I remember seeing her as an ensamble member of Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me and she stole the spotlight everytime she was onstage. I am a fan.
She's a very gifted comedienne, but she does not have the vocal chops to play Fanny Brice (or Elphaba, for that matter). Also, she's far too old to be a believable Fanny Brice.
I do love the drunken power point sketch she did on Mad TV, and her Ellen imitation is quite funny.

I think she's fantastic. I had never heard of her until I saw her in "The People in the Picture", and I looked up some of her work (mainly MadTV and Wicked) on YouTube. Her voice is killer, and her Ellen impression is amazing.
I was a fan of her on Mad TV and know she had some trouble during the beginning of her run in WICKED but after watching some videos of her as Elphaba have to say, she was pretty freaking amazing. I can see her in FUNNY GIRL.

I wasn't aware of her until like 2 years ago, actually!
I saw her in one of the Thursday shows at the Groundlings where she knocked me off my chair laughing. I couldn't believe that she could improv songs!!!
Then I ended up seeing her singing at an Upright Cabaret holiday show a few months later.
She is unbelievably talented. I LOVE LOVE LOVE her!

She was an incredible Elphaba, in my opinion. One of the better actresses. Her voice is not always necessarily pretty, but it sure is powerful. I would love to see her as Fanny.
She is one of the few actresses out there I could see playing Fanny Brice (the other being Leslie Kritzer). First saw her in Martin Short's show and thought that she was far and away the best one in it. Her Ellen, Britney Spears and her Renee Zellwegger were eerily dead on. Yes, it's true it took her about a month or two to settle into Elphaba, but once she got it, she GOT IT. She's a brilliant comedienne and a very talented lady. Would love to see her tackle Funny Girl.
I agree about setting into Elphaba. When I first heard her sing the score...I thought she was a bit "shouty" but about a month or two into the role when her voice became more comfortable she was a knock out. Someone said her voice is not always a "pretty" voice but more of a powerful one and that statement is dead on. She has so much power and enthusiasm in her voice that just carries so well, but her tone is quite pleasant...just not the typical "pretty" kind.
I couldn't find the video, but I know I've seen a hysterical clip of Parker doing a number from The Sound of Music (Do Re Mi?) as various characters, along with a talented group of kids. Anyone know what I'm taking about?

madbrian, I believe that was for the Broadway Dreams Foundation. She was a riot! "Show business has always had its divas. Ethel Merman, Patricia LuPone, Clay Aiken..."
Here is the video madbrian is talking about:

I watch it every now and then, it's hilarious. My favorite is her Celine Dion in that video. I agree, Nicole Parker is a terrific comedienne and performer. I loved her Elphaba and in The People in the Picture. I would love to see her as Kate Monster/Lucy the Slut in Ave Q, Fanny Brice, and many other roles.
My favorite Nicole Parker skits from MAD TV
I think Parker has incredible talents, and could be a huge star with the right vehicle. I don't know if there are writers around now who can write the right show for a comedienne like her. Too bad there isn't a team like Comden and Green who could tailor a show to her talents. I'm not sure we 'need' a revival of Once Upon A Mattress, but she'd make an amazing Winnifred.

I thought her voice was stunning in TPitP. She made me a fan!
She seems to be loaded with charm and charisma, but she was pretty dang awful in PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE.
I find her to be a very talented performer!
Her Judy Garland in the Wizard of Oz Alt-Ending is my favorite sketch of her, I also love her Ellen.

Nicole was a amazing Elphaba. She is equally amazing as Red in The People in the Picture. Her show at Birdland was non stop laughter from the moment she set foot on the stage. She is also the sweetest person I ever met.
