She keeps sounding better! I'm so glad they put some new blood in this show.

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention...I'm the good cop, he's the bad cop.

I totally agree about Julia Murney...
She's my favorite when it comes to acting, even though I don't think she has the best voice!
Sometimes, a brilliant acting makes up for a not-so-good singing...

Her "Wizard and I" sounds amazing as well. She sounds so cute in it.

Julie's first performance with the company was on Tuesday, May 13. I know this because I was there, when I was attempting to see Lisa Brescia. It was the week after SJB came back from a long foot injury. She did a week of shows (SJB) then had a weeks vacation, so Lisa was supposed to be on again, with Julie covering Lisa that week. Lisa's last day was that Sunday anyway, and then when SJB returned Julie would be her standby. Well, that week Lisa got sick, so Julie went on for something like 4 shows that week.

what was that entire hullaboo about Julie Reiber ? I thought this was a Nicole Parker thread?

Anyway, thanks for directing me to those youtube videos (whoever it was that linked them), I think Nicole has terrific potential! She seems to be improving tremendously and has gotten rid of her nerves. Excellent. I'm glad Wicked took a gamble on her and brought in a new Elphaba instead of just cast recycling.

Eh, I'm not really a fan so far. It sounded like she was shouting the whole time and it seemed a bit amateurish. Nothing special stood out to me.

I agree she doesn't sound outstanding. Does she have a lot of fans from that MadTV show? She gives me the impression that if she was a nobody understudying for someone on the Tour then people wouldn't really care about her.

I had never really paid attention to Mad TV, so I'm not a fan, but in general I liked her!

Her acting was brilliant! She can be really funny and was also able to show the necessary emotions at the right times... The scene that she tells Glinda about her mother's death is so cute and emotional!
As Long as You're Mine was one of my favorite moments, she has such a good chemistry with Aaron!

On the other hand, she has the weakest voice I've seen so far... I think I had such bad expectations about her that I was surprised, because she's not that bad! She'll never be a great belter, but she can handle it...
Some times it seemed to me that she was struggling to hit the notes, kind of screaming, but at the same time, she had some really good high notes. The last note in INTG was terrible... she didn't reach it in both shows on Saturday!
There were also some moments that she sounded like an ordinary person without much vocal training that sings with no technique; it doesn't mean she sounded bad, but it can really damage her voice!
But in the end I liked her and even though she doesn't have a strong voice, her performance was good and was not bad to listen to!

Nicole's acting was good, and her singing was better than i expected. That said, i thought she delivered merely an acceptable performance, with nothing really standing out or memorable in any real way.

The crack in her voice on the last note of "i'm not that girl" on saturday night was really obvious and really painful to hear.

(Personally, i expect more than that from a lead in a show like this).

In comparison, Alli Mauzey has an amazing voice. But unfortunately, (in my view), I saw only one dimension to her humor in Glinda (there's no subtley to her delivery). And her physical humor borders on the spastic.

All in all, it was disappointing for me to see one of my favorite shows in such mediocre shape. (it's been years since i've seen it).

On a related note, the audience on Saturday was DEAD. I'm not sure if that was the result of the mediocre performances, or the cause. I think it was more of the former.

You should have been at the matinee with the 1600 girlscouts then. I heard that audiences wasn't dead at all...LOL.

Hey. I work for the show, but I'm not trying to advertise it here. I just wanted to say that I was lucky enough to catch certain parts of the show this afternoon and Nicole Parker gives such a complete performance. The videos and audios going around online don't do her justice. Live, she is incredible! She is also one of the best actresses I have ever seen in the role. Her chemistry with Alli is also wonderful. Their "For Good" was very emotional.

I just wanted to let everyone know. If you had any desire to go see this show, now would be a good time. Nicole was phenomenal. I was really impressed.

If you read her interview on broadway.com, she mentions the German Elphaba. She really is a theater geek! I thought I was only one of a few who bothered to track down the soundtrack in German. haha

Friday night was the first time I had seen Wicked in nearly 3 years. I liked both Nicole and Ally. I also thought the show was in great shape. Understudies were on for both Fiyero (Kyle Dean Massey) and Madame Morrible (Sarah Bolt). Although I'm disappointed I didn't get to see Jayne Houdyshell, I thought Sarah was very good, as well as Kyle.

I just saw Nicole again on Sunday and she has improved a lot in the 3 weeks that I saw her before. INTG is still her weakest song. ALAYM with Aaron sets the place on FIRE!!! Kristen Leigh Gorski is horrible as the witches mom though. Her voice cracked really bad in her one line. Cristy Candler looks and sounds the best that I have ever heard her and it's been a lot.

I only went because that day because I was hoping that Julie and Katie would go on for their final show but they didn't. I did see them watching from the wings during the Finale and at Curtain Call though :).

I for one, saw Nicole and Alli, and they were FANTASTIC. Nicole's INTG was Great, and she DID hit the last note correctly. Her DG was fantastic as well. I hear ya about Julie, She should have gone on for her last! Did they make a speech? I met her in August, she is SO NICE! I saw Kristen Leigh Gorski askt he Witch's mother, and I thought she did very well! Maybe you got her on a bad performance...

and to whoever it is who saw Kyle Dean Massey... I saw him on Tour as Fiyero (Cliffton was on vacation) and it was his first time! He was GREAT! I saw Aaron Tveit about 2 weeks ago, and he was fantastic as well.

Katie & Julie shouldn't have gone on unless their lead is sick. A standby going of as Elphaba or Glinda means you can get a refund, that is the LAST thing a producer wants to do.

I saw Wicked last night and was more impressed with Alli and Nicole than I thought I would be.

Question though... When did they trim the orchestrations? In the big ensemble numbers, the orchestra sound absolutely tiny. And tinny.
