For those of you who have seen both Nicole Parker and Lisa Brescia, how did they compare? I'm looking forward to seeing Nicole because I've heard such positive things about her acting, but I'm worried that I'll feel a little let down after having seen Lisa Brescia, whom I consider to be the best actress in the role.
Well I saw Wicked for the 7th time today and went in with an open mind after hearing so many different opinions of Nicole. Previously I have seen Kerry Ellis twice, Lisa Brecia, Julie Reiber twice, and Marcie Dodd.
I will say that I thought she was fantastic. No she doesn't have the power like a SJB, but I think has a really pretty voice. Her voice to me was very similar to Lisa Brescia's but I enjoyed Nicole more. She was so sweet at stage door too. I talked to her about her great attendance and she told me she has done 82/85 shows which is unlike most of the current Elphies we have had on Broadway, minus Marcie Dodd. She also said Sundays are usually one of her harder days, but I didn't find that to be the case at all.
The audience was so lively today too which makes the show even better. Everyone got cheers, Glinda coming out in the opening, Nicole coming out before Dear Old Shiz, and even Morrible and the Wizard got big applauses when they first appeared. Best of all Nicole got a large applause as she sang its meeeeeeee on DG. I've never had this happen during the show, only seen it on you tube so I was quite enthusiastic to join in on the cheers. She really had a strong ending to that which I wasn't expecting on DG.
It was a great show, and I probably rank her as my #2 Elphie with Julie R still being #1
Yeah, I saw Nicole on February 10, 8pm. I have seen Shoshana twice, Ana (YES she IS amazing), Coleen Sexton, And Carmen Cusack twice. Nicole is absolute amazingness. I loved her! She has a LOT of vocal power despite what many people say, and her acting rocks! I really liked Alli and Aaron too. Nicole reminds me A little bit of Dee, and Coleen mixed. On her "look to the western sky" she held the "look" out longer than she normally does, kinda like she did in the vid of her as Sarah Palin DG. She was absolutley incredible. I met the cast on Sunday the 8th as well before the matinee, and She remembered be on Tuesday, and spent about 15 minutes talking to me. go see her!
I saw Nicole on February 26th and she is only second to Lisa Brescia. (I've seen Kristy, Dee, Carmen, Dan'yelle Williamson, Jennifer Dinoia, Lisa, and Nicole.) Her acting was very good, she added a rebelious akwardness to the character that worked. She wasn't mad the entire time but had a temper or chip on her shoulder. Her singing was pretty good, not the best, but pretty good, she does jump into her lower register a bit too often without trying. Nicole just needs to sing on an even line which most people without proper training don't know how to do. By no stetch of the imagination was her singing bad though.
Also, Alli Mauzey is sensational and my favorite Glinda and Aaron Tveit was great and is now my favorite Fiyero. Updated On: 5/3/09 at 02:19 PM
I saw Nicole again yesterday and everytime I see her she gets better and better. Alli also. Still don't like Kevin all that much. I miss Aaron. The whole show is in great shape with this cast. The all have great chemistry and I will miss Nicole when she leaves in July(this coming from someone who refused to see her at first).
Don't believe everything that you hear! Only the peeps involved know the truth!
Nicole leaves July 17 ande I definitely plan to be there for it. I saw her for the second time at the matinee last Wed and again loved every second of her. I still miss Julie R a ton, but I am very happy with the current cast. I love how nicole portrays Elphaba, and I have never seen any of the actresses get as emotional as she does at the part where she returns to see the Wizard and tells him how much she believed in him. Anyone know when Alli M leaves?
