Due to some tech issues some flying sequences have been removed tonight at Spidey. So far I noticed some in act one. I hope that's it

Oh, my. Was not expecting to hear this.
I'm sure that if anyone raised a stink a refund would be handed out. They certainly aren't going to offer it...there wouldn't be a single person that wouldn't take it.

Awkward. But it seems like they would have only removed it if it were extremely necessary. And only one system was down, spidey's flying rig. I wonder what was wrong with it. . .
but, people can't be too upset. Its like at wicked if the witch didn't defy gravity or something like that. They still got to see the show!

they shouldn't be *too* upset for missing, what, five minutes of the show. Although it is the selling point of the show, they can always use comps or refunds to revisit it. But what is onstage is often more thrilling. I would be really sad, but I wouldn't huff about it. Its live theatre. And they get something in return for part of the show missing.
I wonder if they ran through the lighting cues that pass through the flying space.

If you have a story which is entirely about a boy's new-found ability to fly, it's pretty essential that he flies!
It's not really comparable to the chandelier not falling or the lift not working in Wicked. In those cases it is one moment, one exciting incident in the plot. If spiderman doesn't fly, it's more like someone coming onstage to announce, "Elpheba won't be singing at this performance"!
And maybe audience members don't want to have to come back, incurring extra expense.

Oh dear, I thought Legally Broadway was being sarcastic and I played along. I'm not a huge Wicked fan, but I'd be mad if the most famous song, even to many non musical people, was cut.
As for the flying--it's been not only the only really well (mostly) reviewed aspect of the show, but it's main selling ticket for a very long time. I'd be mad.

LOL...Ericc I had taken YOUR response as snark! Therefore, it fit perfectly.
I paid for a beach house for a week....but when I got there they forced me out after 4 days -- but I was still there! Ridiculous that they shouldn't be "too upset".
MOST people cannot just "come back" and see it again. For many, going to NYC or even seeing a show on B'way is a once in a lifetime event. What about explaining that to the many KIDS in the audience? This is the pinnacle OF this show. THIS is what the big deal is. For MANY, this is the one thing that keeps the show from sucking.

Too funny.

Posted: 7/1/11 at 11:22amI had a friend there, and apparently they announced before the show that anyone who wanted to leave would be granted a refund, and anyone who stayed and was dissatisfied would be given free tickets to an upcoming show. Don't think many people got up and left, though.

Posted: 7/1/11 at 1:11pmConsidering the aerial flights are touted as the High Lights of a rather mediocre show, I am sure there were many in the audience that were not pleased! I know if I had planned a summer trip into the city with my family for a couple days with Spiderman being the apex of our trip, I would be more then just a little pissed off!

"..., they can always use comps or refunds to revisit it."
You make a huge assumption that everyone in the audience is a local. Spidey is a huge tourist crowd. People that scheduled time to see it. Spent money on specific dates for airlines, hotels, ground transport, etc etc etc Most people can't uproot their entire schedules and plan another trip to NYC in the next 14 days. Of course people stay and see a show that is less than what they paid for not everyone can just "revisit" a show that they planned and budgeted time and money to see.
