I am going to possibly audition for "Noises Off" but I need some advice. I am familiar with the show, have the script, film and have seen it on stage(though it was a high school one act play).
I am male, 5'6" and at the oldest look to be in early 20ies. I usually play younger, but their aren't really young people in the play.
However, I would think that my best bet would probably to go for Tim, the stage manager.
Am I right?
Yep, Tim would be your best bet. I have the same problem with looking and playing young. When I auditioned for Noises Off, I auditioned for Tim and got the part!!! It's an incredibly fun role, especially the beginning of ACT III. Break a Leg at your audition!
Garry can also be played as late twenties/early thirties. If possible, try out for Tim and Garry.
For what its worth, T.R. Knight played Tim in the 2001 Broadway revival and he was H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S! He stole the stage from everyone else whenever he was on. Yes, its a small part but you can make your moments sheer magic if done right.
He was good in Noises Off, as was the entire cast. However, it was Katie Finneran who stole every scene.
I know it's too soon for another revival, but I can't wait! I saw both casts of this most recent revival, and both were terrific. I want to see Jane Curtain in another show!
This was my first Broadway show and I have such fond memories of it. Good luck with your audition.

God, the original cast of the 2001 revival was incredibly cast. Patti LuPone, Peter Gallagher, Faith Prince, TR Knight (before he became famous), Katie Finneran (who won a Tony), and Richard Easton.
Yeah, you sound like a Tim to me if your competing with adults. The other men in the play are in their thirties or older, although Garry could be played as late twenties.
BTW, I personally thought the Broadway revival was enormously overrated. I didn't like the changes in the script, and thought that the acting style was too kitchen sink realism for farce. You can be truthful while still being larger than life, which is what the play calls for.
Yes, whoever cast the Noises Off revival did an amazing job -- the other 3 actors whom Yankeefan didn't mention are Edward Hibbert, Thomas McCarthy (the director of The Station Agent and other movies) and Robin Weigert (Emmy-nominated for Deadwood).
Interesting that of the 9 cast members, 4 are currently appearing on Broadway (Patti LuPone, Edward Hibbert, Faith Prince, and Peter Gallagher).
