- Hair
- West Side Story
...are both being produced by Troika Entertainment! They both start this fall and will non-equity.
Does anyone know of any other shows, going non-eq next touring season?

Posted: 1/15/12 at 4:19pmI only know that In the Heights has been non-equity for a while, but that's all that I can think of.

Now it's not in their list of upcoming shows, but Troika has a marketing listing for Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

Now I can't find anything on their website or my playbill that they were producing the show. Could they be planning a tour for it?

Posted: 1/16/12 at 11:31amJust saw the In the Heights non-Equity tour here in Chicago. Naturally, it wasn't advertised as such so I'm glad I had used a discount code for the tickets. That said, it was one of the better non-Equity tours I've seen. The guy playing Usnavi (Perry Young I think his name is) was definitely of Broadway quality, even if some of the supporting cast wasn't.

mybestaudition: I'm pretty positive that the Catch Me If You Can tour isn't non-eq!
ACL2006: From what I heard about the Next to Normal tour ... there won't be second one! Although, BroadwayWorld has it listed as tour next season, the date they have in Kansas City is actually a regional production.

Posted: 1/16/12 at 4:20pmGlad to see the love for Virginia Cavaliere (the current Nina on the non-Eq In the Heights) popping up here from time to time. I worked with her this summer and she is incredibly talented, and an absolute sweet heart to work with.

Posted: 1/16/12 at 5:02pmI just saw the Big League Non-Equ tour of My Fair Lady! it ended being beyond my expectations just as good as any other equity tour if not better a lot of fabulous young new talent in the cast with some excellent top notch voices and a well played orchestra. They did cut the embassy ball scene but i've always thought it slowed down the flow of the show any way. If it's playing nearby go and see it, tours through march

I assume equity and non equity tours are to do with the trade union, but what baffles me is, I always assumed the union is the nemesis of the producers as it pushes up their costs significantly, so why do commercial producers do equity tours?

bwayphreak: The sets are from the Pittsburgh CLO, here are some pix. Also, the website for the tour has numerous youtube videos that give you a good idea.
