Non-equity tour running concurrently with broadway production

I knew Kinky Boots has sent out a non-equity tour, but I’m wondering if this is significant at all.

I can’t think of any other shows that sent out a non-eq tour while the broadway production was still in full swing. Perhaps I’m just missing some obvious ones.

edit: definitely have missed some pretty obvious ones. I think the most obvious is Mamma Mia... Still I’m wondering if shows ever get flack by the broadway community and actors for sending out non-eq tours, while the show is still running nicely on broadway.

The Chicago revival has had it's tour go non-equity so it could play in smaller cities. Or it's had a equity & non-equity tour running at the same time(I think back in 2006 they did this). During its final years on Broadway, the CATS tour was always non-equity.



I find it odd that the Kinky Boots non-equity tour only ran for 6 months. The show currently isn't touring and it appears it won't have one touring in 2018-19 either.
