*blinks* Greg denied something? Where?
Wishing Norbert a quick and easy recovery.

Awww Norbert! Here's to his speedy recovery!
Greg denied NOTHING. He has been nothing but helpful all this time and the fact that people call him Hollywood for something he didn't do really makes me angry. Greg has been updating us, just like Barb mentioned, via the cam, emails, and the stagedoor. Without Greg we wouldn't have been as updated and aware as we are and if anything we should all be THANKING him for being so kind. He didn't have to do any of it, but he did because well, he's Greg, and he is the nicest guy. As Barb said, Greg is the most un-Hollywood people ever, he emails with fans, takes the trouble to do a webcam for us, takes us backstage, chats at the stagedoor forever, what more could you want out of such a talented actor?

Posted: 1/7/06 at 11:32amI'm curious, how old is Norbert's daughter? I had the impression that his girls were quite young and I'm a little surprised to hear that her school group was at the show. DRS is not exactly a show for kids.

Posted: 1/7/06 at 11:35amI have nodes myself and with voice therapy, rest and other things he can do, he'll recover. Also, the doctor I went to assured me that the surgery wouldn't damage my voice. I wish him the best (considering he's my favorite Broadway actor!)and this is healed quickly as possible!

Norbert's daughters aren't very old at all..I believe like 4 and 6 or 5 and 7..not quite sure...either way, it'd be a fun school trip to see your friend's Tony Award winning dad perform on stage!
.
Aww, Norb..so worried, <3.

Posted: 1/7/06 at 11:48amDRS isn't too bad for young people. It is rather tame. Parents though should be warned about a few words and situations. Again, nothing too vulgar.

Posted: 1/7/06 at 12:04pmAlso, Hasn't Norbert be on vocal rest since last Sunday? If so, then aside for yesterday and today, he's been indeed resting the voice. It could explain why he sounded fine yesterday.

I send all sorts of happy vibes Norbert's way. I know what a pain in the ass nodes are.

I have tickets for the 18th for DRS. First time I will have seen it, and I bought them specifically cause I've never gotten a chance to see Norbert live before. Poo. What crappy luck.

Just want to add to all the other wishes for NLB's speedy recovery. I can't wait to see DRS again - I've only seen it once. Such a pain living hours away.
I only want to see it when Butz and Jbara are in it, so thanks for the updates.

Posted: 1/7/06 at 4:16pmI do agree with you Harpo. Jbara and Butz are really the cornerstones of this show (others have disagreed with me.) It's too bad that BOTH seem to be out, at least temporarily. I consider myself fortunate to have been there a few weeks ago on a night to see them in action. I've never seen Jbara as a leading man but am ready to say that in this role as Andre and as a visible supporting male lead, he is superb. His straight man makes Butz' slop-shtick even that more effective. I haven't seen their replacements but they are really hard acts to follow...

Posted: 1/7/06 at 4:19pmACD, Greg is fine (other than some sinuses) and he hasn't been out for some time. He's been in almost every show since they opened.

Hi Harpo! Let me know when you're coming to NY so I could watch you and keep you fairly sober
Yeah, of the 6 cast members, Greg has been more consistent w/ performances than anyone. Really, he had a week's vacation in June, and had a day off here and there, maybe one for every 2 monthsish, but has been in otherwise. I've seen the show 12 times, seen my fair share of talented understudies, but Greg is the one cast member to have been in the show all 12 times I've seen it.
Colleen, if you really would prefer to see Norbert that badly, you should be able to exchange your tickets through telecharge.

Respectfully, other than a business interest of some kind, what possesses someone to see the *same* play 12 times?

Posted: 1/7/06 at 8:39pmBecause nothing in live theatre is exactly the same, each performance is different. And I receive a great deal of joy everytime I see it...so...why not?

Posted: 1/7/06 at 8:41pmThat is so not an argument worth having. It's pot-meet-kettle galore. And I say this as a guilty-as-charged offender.

armchairdirector, I like you! Mostly because you said:
"Jbara and Butz are really the cornerstones of this show..."
You are obviously a very intelligent individual. :)
As for seeing the same show or play multiple times, I'm not in NY, so don't have the opportunity folks who live there do. However, I know there are films that I can watch over and over and over. In the past I've seen the same local play over and over (more than one) but that had more to do with being a volunteer for a professional theatre company, so there was a reason for my being there other than *just* watching all or part of the performances.

LOL. I've seen some movies several times over a course of a reasonably long period of time, e.g. a few months. Creative directors will frequently stick symbolism all over the place and it's fun to catch it and see great performances again... but yeesh! 12 times!!! I don't know how long a period of time that is over but I can't imagine watching any film that many times, no matter how good the performance, over a relatively short course of time. Aren't there numerous other new and interesting shows to see and things to do?

Posted: 1/7/06 at 9:50pmPerhaps, then, you've never seen anything that truly gets you that way. I don't think you can force yourself to have the desire to see something again. It's got to stick with you enough that you want to go running back. Maybe some people have more capacity to be grabbed by shows and films, etc, or something -- if that's how we're looking at it; actor attachment is something totally different. Until this year, I'd never been that way about a film. Then along came two movies that have stuck with me like I can't possibly explain to you. You can keep asking the question, and wanting to know what possesses people, but they're just going to go "because I like it," perhaps in some embellished form. I do think that no matter how much you love something, the capacity to be bored by it eventually rears its head, but be it having attachment to an actor or a show, that's what some people choose do with their time. I've done it. I recognize that it's crazy. But any answer provided will still get people to tell me I'm being silly about it.
