Hello, looking for advice on a show, for Saturday, Nov. 11/17 evening. Seeing Miss Saigon the day prior. Have seen BOM, not interested in SOR, Cats, Waitress or POTO. Wondering about Beautiful or Anastasia? DEH (resale) and Hello Dolly ticket prices don't fit my budget. Thanks for your help. :)

Anastasia was one of my least favorites this season, (only slightly above Bandstand) due to the pretty costumes and stunning projections. The music, storyline and cast all fell flat - I'd only go to Anastasia if you got a really good deal.
How old are you? I will continue to suggest Groundhog Day as the top choice to pretty much everyone.

Third on Groundhog Day! It's amazing and more people need to see it! :)
Groundhog Day Or Come From Away.
Both great shows, in very different ways. Money well spent.
Groundhog Day over Anastasia.
However, maybe check out The Band's Visit. It's predicted those are going to be difficult tickets to get by this time next year.
Another vote for Groundhog Day. I would skip Anastasia.

Thanks Greenifyme2. I'm 37. I actually know little about Groundhog Day--I'll look it up. Do you, or anyone have a sense if Andy K. is likely to still be in the show in Nov.? Thanks again!
If it makes it that long, he should be in it. It will be less than the standard 1 year.

Couple of points:
1. There could be a few more announcements of new shows previewing by November. Might want to wait, particularly since you will be able to get discounted tickets for GHD -- which everyone seems to be recommending -- unless it closes before then (which I am expecting).
2. Consider Donna Murphy for Hello Dolly. She is a 5 time nominated, 2 time Tony winner. You will LOVE the show, and save a lot of money in the process. I saw Bette in HD and loved her in it; but, IMO, she couldn't hold a candle to Carol Channing or Pearl Bailey. I haven't seem Murphy yet in Dolly (she hasn't exactly been in a lot of performances yet and I am out of town), but hope to see her in October; and, despite the 'loss of event' associated with not seeing Midler, it is still a wonderful show and she is a wonderful musical performer.
3. Don't count on Miss Saigon being open IMO. Come late August, it is going to die.
4. Re Beautiful, I don't know where you live, but it has been touring the country for several years. Might want to see if it will be anywhere near you...why waste the 'slot' if you don't have to.
5. Come From Away is a very enjoyable, feel good show. You can't go wrong...just don't expect too much.

Thanks Jarethan. Based on everyone's suggestions, I just purchased a ticket to Groundhog Day. Ticket sales for this show, and the other show you suggested may close (i.e., Miss Saigon) are going reasonably well for November, so, I doubt that my tickets will be cancelled. I would have purchased a ticket to Hello Dolly with Donna Murphy; however, she is not scheduled for that evening (Bette is), hence why the ticket price was out of my range. :) To your point about seeing Beautiful on tour, I live in Eastern Canada--we used to get National Tours quite frequently; however, they have died down considerably. Thanks again for your suggestions and comments.
GROUNDHOG DAY. Its incredible

Yesss we did it! Another for Groundhog Day! You're going to love it.
I saw Come From Away this week- the bar was just raised so high this season it didn't feel like Broadway to me. Some nice moments, but definitely could have dug much deeper. Also should have been in the Circle in the Square theater.

hahaha Yes, greenifyme2, you did it. I had no intention of seeing it, and after reading yours, and a few others' advice, I bought the ticket. This, after contemplating between Beautiful and Anastasia for two weeks! :)

Enjoy your trip to NYC.
Is there any chance that you can bring your Prime Minister to New York with you? We'll treat him with elegance and refinement. Promise.

I definitely seem to be in the minority with this opinion, but I highly recommend Anastasia. Yes, it is a beautifully designed show, but it's far from just costumes and projections. The cast is incredibly talented. Without spoiling anything, one of my favorite scenes occurs in the middle of Act 2. A quartet among the principals featuring some intense choreography from the ensemble. It's a really powerful scene, one that features the strengths of 7+ actors simultaneously.
Groundhog Day is a fun night out, but the entire show felt like an Andy Karl standup routine. The songs aren't particularly memorable... I'd say the highlight (for me) was the set design and how they utilize it.
My vote would have gone to Once on this Island, which starts previews Nov 9th! Jordan Fisher sang a song from the show at miscast this year and I loved his rendition of it!
You made a good choice with Groundhog Day. Enjoy the show.
