>Honestly, I was thinking maybe they moved it up a week to possibly not compete with Spring Awakening's closing. Both happened to be the same day, at the same time. I don't know if that is a legit reason though.<

It's not. Multiple shows have closed on the same day before and there is no way that Spamalot moved up its closing out of deference to Spring Awakening. I suspect the change is either due to some Spamalot budget, schedule or cast issue, or Blithe Spirit needing another week for their load-in. (Blithe Spirit director Michael Blakemore quite often likes to have the entire rehearsal process on the actual set, instead of a rehearsal room, so perhaps Blithe wants an early load-in).

Begin at the beginning and go on till you come to the end: then stop.

It will be contractual and not anything to be in competition with another show closing the same day- thats a bit of a ridiculous thought!
If that be the case, close it yet another week earlier and then 'Spamalot' on Broadway will come down the same day as its West End partner.

"I just bought a new ticket last night, as I just assumed that they would tell me all performances would be cancelled after the 11th. If that wasn't the way to go, oh well. I will just call and get a refund or see if instead of charging my credit card a second time, they can just switch the ticket seat and date.

Edit-Still no email about this from telecharge, so if I do not get any notification come Monday or Tuesday even, I will call them. "

Hmmm, what happens if you paid cash when you purchased the tickets in advance of the new closing date?

Okay, so my speculation was a bit off. I figured it didn't make sense, but it was just part of my guess.

And for paying cash, the only thing I can think of is calling telecharge and talking to them. Obviously they must know what tickets they sold so they don't end up selling the same seats multiple times.

But yeah, if they get their act together for refunds or if original closing tickets will be honored, I will be a bit mad. Imagine if I had just ordered tickets, without knowing any info that it was a closing show, showed up on the 18th, and finding out it had already closed and nobody told me. I highly doubt that will be the case, but I'm just getting impatient. Maybe all I do need to do is wait until Monday since it's the weekend.

Mythus - There's plenty of other things to do in NYC other than see Spamalot. When you revolve your entire trip around one show, especially with one that plans to close, you're asking for trouble. Producers frequently change closing dates - look at the case with Rent, Tale of Two Cities, and Xanadu.

TheatreLover76, if you paid cash you'll have to go back to the box office to get a refund/make an exchange.

It would be impossible to honor the tickets for January 18th on January 11th. You might be able to acquire the same seat, but it's possible that your seat for the 18th was already sold to someone else for the 11th.

And folks, this was announced on a Friday, if you don't hear by Tuesday night, then give Telecharge a call. This stuff doesn't happen instantly.

Yeah, actually I looked at telecharge's website at their help menu. I emailed them, like they said you could. Yeah, I'm probably just worrying too much. Actually, I know I am. It's just with Xanadu, people found out sooner than the press releases came out, so I guess that's why I'm going so crazy.

Gonna just go and see the cheapest show, or Mamma Mia, most likely Mamma Mia, since I've already seen all the other shows (Save Grease, which looks dreadfully boring)

Twenty BUCKS? That's so sad! (I mean it's good for YOU) but sad they can't sell tickets at this time!)
