thanks for starting this post, Taryn. Indeed a huge loss. While in college this white girl saw "For Colored Girls..." soon after it first opened. It was mind-altering, intellectual life changing, and my very first gut punch in the theater--and never forgotten. Coincidentally, when I was at the Public last month, the beautiful and iconic poster hanging there joyfully reminded me of my great love for and experience of that show.  The refrain "Somebody Almost Walked Off Wid Alla My Stuff"  still enters my head from time to time.
