Hmmm, could it be about Ms. Applegates lawsuit?

I am laughing so hard. This whole thing has been insanity.

Now I have to call my mother to tell her she didn't sit through an out of town flop after all.

"There's no people like show people
They don't run out of dough

Angels come from everywhere with lots of jack
And when you lose it there's no attack
Where could you get money that you don't give back?
Let's go on with the show

There's no people like show people
They smile when they are low

Even with a turkey that you know will fold
You may be stranded out in the cold
Still you wouldn't 'change for a sack of gold
Let's go on with the show
Let's go on with the show"

That IS shocking.

What idiot would put money into this show? Even if it wins the Tony, I bet it won't make money.

It's not shocking. It's publicity. It's the Weisslers. Nothing shocking here.

I'm wondering if this wasn't their plan all along. They're getting tons of free publicity as a result.

It's like a huge soap opera...

Davis gets fired - but the cast swears they don't know why - even though we, the viewers, know why.

A show was supposed to close - but now it isn't. Furthermore, it's staring the girl who hurt herself.

Idina hurts herself the night before her last show. And a day more than a month later, Stephanie gets hurt as she opens in the same role.

Wildhorn keeps getting shows produced.

It's not that great of a PR stunt. Yes, it gets free publicity, but how many people are going to rush out to buy tickets to a show that was this close to closing out of town?

It sounds like the cast and crew of this show should be sending flowers and cards and bowing at the shrine of La Applegate this afternoon:

According to Playbill.com:

Barry Weissler said in a statement: "I spent the weekend on the telephone with Christina Applegate who made a passionate and compelling case for moving forward with our Broadway plans. Her doctor also confirmed this morning that she will be ready and able to resume performances on April 18th. I have approached my partners on the show and we have all agreed to put up the additional funds necessary to accommodate this new schedule. I guess the only thing left for me to do is ask everyone to please refrain from using the old showbiz adage, 'break a leg!'"

Well, I will be rushing out to buy a ticket, but I am probably biased!

I agree. Bad reviews do not equal a good PR stunt.

And seriously... WHO put money into this show? I'm interested.

::raises hand::

And in all honesty, with DRS and Spamalot being the biggies this year, with La Cage getting tons of publicity in the past two days with the Davis firing, this is all sort of exciting.

I wondered about the PR aspect myself. The reviews will be better after this drama I'd bet: You've got the injured star, the fight back from insurmountable odds, The mantle of the underdog...There sure will be a lot of press. Even the most optimistic, however, would have to admit, that most of the press will not be of the "ticket-selling" variety!

My only question through out this amazing story has been how poorly the Weisslers have managed this situation. Why in the world did they announce FRIDAY that the show would not go on? I'd think you'd explore EVERY option before pulling the plug.

At the very least, this is the most entertaining season in my lifetime! There certainly has been DRAMA!
