Of course the category will get harder when I start seeing performances, but how much would I love if my queen Kelli O'Hara won for Kiss Me Kate AND won the Olivier for The King and I???
The Inheritance cannot beat The Ferryman. The former can't hold a candle to AiA especially with AiA so recent. The Ferryman is one of the most incredible plays I've ever seen.
Oh and Everybody's Talking About Jamie will make Frozen and Mean Girls look like the highest quality shows ever on Broadway.
Santino Fontana and whoever plays Beetlejuice (do we know if it’ll be Alex Brightman or Chris Fitzgerald: either would be great!) battle it out for Best Actor.
Samantha Barks and Laura Osnes battle for Best Actress, assuming Pretty Woman is (hopefully) still running by spring.
Daniel Radcliffe FINALLY gets a Tony nomination!

Moulin Rouge has extended its Boston run. Problems? AT is way overrated in my opinion and he looks positively awful and not well in the promo video.
Everybody's Talking About Jamie is being made into a movie, which I think would be the team's main priority, as opposed to a Broadway transfer.

At least he can actually sing unlike anyone in the film.

Just gonna predict a Laurie Metcalf win because honestly why not.

Samantha Barks a definite nominee and a strong contender, and Andy Karl a strong possibility if they make the necessary changes. Eric Anderson is a likely nominee for supporting actor.
Best Revival Musical KISS ME KATE
Best Musical HADESTOWN

Seth Redutsky said it as a fact that Alex Brightman is playing Beetlejuice, and if it's indeed confirmed I think it's his tony to lose.
As to SJB, I'm curious to hear the reports from tonight, but I wonder if her part will be big enough and meaty enough for a tony win. I fear her fate will end the same as LaChanze's.

I agree. I think Orfeh could possibly score a nomination too.
I think Torch Song will take Play Revival. Boys in the Band won't be fresh in the minds of voters by the time of the awards.

Not a chance you are correct about the Pretty Woman shut out. Every Chicago review (I believe) touted Samantha Barks' turn as a "star making performance".
I'm not asserting it will come to pass. But I think Pretty Woman is gonna have a very hard time and will become an albatross around the necks of people involved.
We also don't know if Pretty Woman will still be around by the time of the Tonys.

For Best Actress in a Musical, I’m predicting Samantha Barks, Kelli O’Hara, Stephanie J Block and potentially Karen Olivo for Moulin Rogue if it transfers!

Robert DeNiro will get a Tony for “lifetime achievement in theatre.”
My predictions: Moulin Rouge gets panned in Boston, comes anyway, gets panned again. Gains die-hard fans but limps along at the box office. Catherine Zuber uses her Gigi can-can dresses (that she reused in MFL) for the third time but still ends up with a costume nom. But can’t possibly beat Bob Mackie.
The Cher Show is unexpectedly brilliant and winds up being th first jukebox musical to win since Jersey Boys.
Best Score goes to...nothing? I’m just not anticipating a Hadestown transfer actually happening this year (I have no idea why—it’s a random hunch). Which would leave us with what? King Kong, Pretty Woman, and Getting the Band Back Together?
This coming year looks bleaaaaaaaaaak on the musical side. I’m hoping some theaters open up and make room for exciting new material and new work for all the designers and shops and aspiring actors around town.

I would not be surprised if Ryan Murphy films Boys in the Band on on a (no show) Sunday near the end of it's run to air on Netflix in the spring of 2019. Refresh Tony voter memories and shoot for some Emmys at the same time.
Are these all the likely New Musical options (as far as we know right now)?
Hadestown
Jagged Little Pill
Tootsie
King Kong
Pretty Woman
The Prom
Moulin Rouge
If so, my prediction for nominees: Hadestown, Tootsie, Jagged Little Pill, King Kong and Moulin Rouge
As for winner among those, if the voters continue to vote as they did this year, rejecting the big budget spectacle musicals (ala Mean Girls, Frozen, My Fair Lady), then look for a Hadestown win.
There's also the possibility of Beetlejuice.
2019 Best Actress in a Play: Glenda Jackson, King Lear

From what I hear, Ain’t Too Proud is hoping to open in the spring of 2019. If it does, it will be a serious contender, I think. It officially opens tonight at the Kennedy Center, so we’ll get some idea of the critical response I’ll be watching for Peter Marks’ review in the WAPO
