i couldn't get a picture. my friend texted me back saying it was pack, but she has her video camera there so later she'll put a video on. hopefully. so, we just have to be patient.
It wasn't insane when I got there, but the line is getting longer by this point. About 12:50, the line was barely around the corner of 41st and 7th (snaking around to cover the entrance of the first store). It only took about 20 minutes to get to the front and put my name in but by the time I left, the line was down 7th to 40th. It's being run pretty smoothly right now but most people think they need to be there closer to 2P (the people around me just lucked out by happening by earlier).
I just put my name in a little while ago. I got there a little after 1 and the line was around the corner and just to the front of the entrance to Parson's. It took me about 30minutes to get through the line. When I left the line was past Parson's and around the corner. I think it is a good idea that they started early. I wonder if they will really be able to start drawing at 3 or if they will have to wait a while till everyone puts their names in. I can see it being complete chaos if someone waited online and got to the front just to hear them say that the lotto was closed.... Oh well, I guess we will find otu soon enough!
I was thinking the same thing...I work nearby and didn't want to go back too long before 3P if it they wind up calling the names a little later, but didn't want to miss it by being late. Doh!
Good luck, tmz814!!!
Good luck to you too, Esparzafan.
I would love to be able to go to this, but can't imagine dealing with this mayhem. Do they plan on shutting down the block at 3:00? This is going to be a mass of people to deal with....will definitly need the megaphone. It's probably a good thing they are doing it mid-day. It weeds out a lot of us that wouldn't take off work to go, though I wish I could just see the numbers of people waiting while the names are called. I imagine there will be some news coverage on this.

Really wish I could have gone. Too bad I live in Boston. I swear, if I miss another chance like this, I'm moving. =)
Somebody please go and take a picture right now.
I need to see it!

Good G-d. I'm in Florida and I'm freaking out. That's just sad...
Who wants to take a bet on who and how many people from BWW won. (If any)

I don't get stuff like that, why spend the money to give prizes to people that already won something, when the proceeds of this event are supposed to go to charity. I am sure half of that stuff is just going to get put on ebay for those people for personal profit.

Congrats to your sister! I guess you aren't going??
I see literacy is not a requirement to win.

I just called someone who is watching the lotto (they have a row D ticket) and I could barely hear her.
As she said "I gotta go," I heard this ubberly loud scream. haha. I wonder if they have an ambulance there for people like me...

Or post here...
To whoever said they shouldn't be giving stuff away - there are gift bags for the evening and they have been completely donated by Target, they didn't spend any of the money the benefit raised, I'm sure that is what they gave the lotto winners as well.

Egh, I guess that is a little better, and it is cool, who doesn't want stuff like that...but still, it just seems a little twisted. I don't know, maybe I am just jealous :]

I wish I knew if there was a reason why I am sitting here in Florida freaking out over this. I mean, my pulse must be over 150 and I am sweating and shaking...
*goes to find my xanax*

Who DID win?
just got back.. it was INSANE! there were so many people, they practically took up the entire street.. anyway, i didn't win but after they called the 17 pairs they announced they were calling 15 additional winners.. must have had some leftover seats they needed to fill...
a) they need a better megaphone.. could barely hear anything
b) constantine needs to learn how to use a megaphone..
that is all!
I know that this topic has been discussed to death recently, but are they reocrding this concert.
Actually I should worry because tomorrow I'll go to youtube and see all of the concert posted by "ShoElpha" or something equally stupid. o the irony!
I just got back as well. Alas, I did not win. I am a little upset but in my heart I know I did not have $1,000 to spend on a ticket to this (or even $500). Oh well....
The megaphones did suck, but I was standing in the street (even though the guy kept saying "back up on the sidewalk") right by where they were announcing, so I didn't have too much trouble hearing. Oh well... at least I can say I tried.
