"Speaking of Broadway and movies, casting for 'Wicked' -- or at least, casting ideas -- is brewing. I hear BRITNEY SPEARS has expressed interest in starring as the green witch. "She is obsessed with the musical," a source says. "She listens to the CD all the time in her car. She bought 10 copies of the CD at a mall to give as gifts." HILARY DUFF is another young songbird who may be in the running. She's been talked about for the role of Glinda, the Good Witch. The show's rep says that no one has been approached yet because the movie will not be made for quite some time."

Yes, they'll need to learn how to do that...and maybe they should get people that can actually act? And sing? And maybe look the part. Green makeup on Britney Spears? I've said enough...

Seriously, could you see Britney Spears singing "Defying Gravity" or Hilary Duff hitting those notes in "No One Mourns the Wicked"? Nope.

The movie is going to made, but not for another two years or so. It's a bit too early to talk casting. Universal just brought the option back up and put in an order for several spec scripts. While development seems to be moving, I don't think anything substancial will come of it for a while longer.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Excuse while I go throw up in the bathroom...

When they do turn it into a movie, I hope they do what RENT did and bring back as much of the original cast as possible...

...right, because those original principle cast members could so pass for college students on film.

The only way Kristin Chenoweth will get cast in the movie is to play Glinda's mom in a flashback scene which shows the audience how not raise children.

And are you some kind of psychic? How can you "see" Reese in a role she's never stepped near?

The only casting I am really die hard for seeing is Judi Dench as Morrible. Not a lot of singing needed, which is handy, and I love seeing her as viscious women.

Yeah cause Emmy was SO amazing in Phantom......oh god, i think i actually threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Actually I hear that Ms Spears will be starring in a NEW musical about the life of Sinead O'Connor!
