Bart Sher hasn't done well with new pieces, but The King and I is a revival so it's gonna be amazing.

There is no possible way that you are currently attending college. I can't... no, I won't believe it.

Does the way you type and spell on BroadwayWorld.com also reflect the way in which you compose thoughts and form ideas at college?

Smaxie. I love, love, love your summary of the meaning in the show and focusing on "some other time" In particular. You nailed it. Sot is my favorite show tune of all time for those reasons. (Lucky to be me is way up there on my list. A show with two of my all time favorites --- and a full orchestra. Who could ask for more? (Btw. The Barbara cook version of sot is the best. Give it a listen )

so it's weekly nut was $750,000 and they've reduced it to $675,000. Since the show open until the end of the year it made it's weekly nut and then some. The producers seem willing to keep it open through the winter and will continue to keep it running if things pick up in the spring.

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

I saw On the Town on 1/18 and thought it was boring! Just my opinion of course. My companion and I left at intermission. But an usher did tell us that there are no big stars in this show making its overhead low and therefore not closing anytime soon.

As much as I love Jackie, if anyone deserves a featured actress nomination it would be Alysha or Elizabeth.

I too think it's very silly to say that a show is going to be better when no one has seen the full productions. Yes Gigi is getting a new book, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's golden. Yes, the casts for the shows you mentioned are stellar, but remember how excited everyone was for the cast of Women on the Verge? We all know what happened to that show. I'm not counting any show out, but there is no rhyme or reason why a show is or is not a hit. So, in 3 months let me know your fully formed and supported opinions on why all the others are "better".

ebontoyan, boring? Were you not impressed with that lush, huge orchestra playing Bernstein's brilliant jazzy score? And what about the dancing? Did that not move you? A world class ballerina and the wonderful, athletic dancers in the chorus?

May I ask how old you are?

Many worthwhile performers are passed over every year and will continue to be. You have more performers than slots available.

As I said just my opinion. Btw I'm in my 40s and I love Broadway!
I saw 5 shows this visit and in order I liked: 1. The Last Ship, 2. The Elephant Man, 3. (Tie) Alladin and The River
and way way down: On the Town lol
What can I say...it just didn't speak to me
PS: The usher also told us there was another 20 minute ballet sequence in the second act. That pushed us over the edge to leave at intermission. We already had to endure that long dance/ballet number at the end of Act 1!
Sorry if off topic

the dancing, orchestra, and jackie hoffman were the only things that i was really impressed with. I honestly thought the actors could have gone a lot further with their roles to make it funnier.

^ That's really too bad for you, as the second act of this revival is one of the most beautifully done 40-or-so minutes of theatre in my memory. Such a shame for anyone who leaves this show early.

Well don't be sorry for me since I'm not and as I already said it is my opinion. I have to say while my companion and I were eye rolling the rest of the audience seem to be entertained. Let's just agree to disagree. I am not forcing my opinion on anyone just giving my own. Plz extend the same courtesy.

ebontoyan I'm not denigrating your opinion. I just can't relate to it. Usually if someone has an opinion I disagree with I think "Matter of taste"- but this, and the things you're saying about it just shock me.

That kind of music and dancing is the whole point of a musical. 4 geniuses in their 20s created this and to me the music, dancing and lyrics burst with the energy and wonder of youth. And a superb cast brings it off magically.

I guess Broadway musicals are different things to different people.

Crossing fingers this holds on until the tonys, so I can see it when I visit in may.
Did not find earlier soundtracks to have many truly standout songs.

What are peoples favorite songs from this production?

thanks!

PJ - That NY Times piece was a great read. If I were still gainfully employed, I would have seen this show by now. Hope they get to a point where sales are exceeding $675k/wk. Gotta give kudos to Howard and Janet Kagan for following their passion. I imagine many other producers would have brought this show to NY with just the 18 original musicians.

HorseTears, I can relate! I happened to stop in and buy an OTT ticket last week and my work hours were greatly reduced the following day starting in February, which means I'm not buying much in the way of tickets anymore. So, I was glad I stopped by that night! heh.
