Once Questions!

I am going to be seeing a matinee for Once on June 27th! I am so excited about this and I just had a couple of questions.

1) My seat is Row O Seat 2. How is the view? I have read about this lighting effect. Will I miss the full effect?

2) What time does the official pre-show begin?

3) In order to go on the stage do I need to purchase something?

4) And does the cast sign after matinees?

Sorry for the questions. Thanks. :)

The stage opens almost as soon as the theatre allows you to come in. The preshow starts about 6 minutes later. I think they did three songs. I left after the second. No, you don't have to buy anything. No pictures. Can't speak for the rest of your questions. I was sitting in upper balcony. If there was a lighting effect, I didn't notice it.

I don't know much about it either (and sort of don't want to before the show) but someone said it was like a 3-D effect. Not sure but thanks for the help I am very excited about this!

The day I was there the ushers were saying you were only allowed on stage if you were purchasing a drink. Of course, you could lie. :)

I remember a lightning effect but it was so insignificant I've already forgotten what it was.

I have a feeling I know which lighting effect you're talking about it and you'll be able to see it just fine. Like the rest of the show, the effect is beautiful for its simplicity, so do not expect strobe lights or anything like that.

Your seat is fine for EVERYTHING.

Before the show you do not have to claim to purchase anything...however, they can only allow a certain number of people onn the stage, so you might have to wait.

At intermission they ask you only go up if you are purchasing a drink.

I'm sure the other poster meant to NOT expect strobe lights. It's a really beautiful and simple moment.

Can't answer your last question: I don't stagedoor.

And I have to laugh a little -- live theater IS 3D -- no Effect needed.

Also, they usually do around 6 songs for the pre-show I believe.

Once is an awesome musical; you are in for a treat! All the seats in the theatre are pretty good, so I don't think you have much to worry about there. Before the show begins, the cast members (als the show's orchestra)play several numbers while audience members can come to the stage and hang out with them (or buy a drink). During intermission, most people are going to the stage to buy drinks. So come to the theatre early to get a good spot onstage!

I believe that the cast does sign after matinees. Enjoy the show!

Once Questions!

I sat in N26 (the next to last seat on the house right side of the theater), and I think I saw the effect in question. You should be fine, since you're one row back and on the aisle. I saw it on a Sunday, but a good chunk of the cast came out and signed after the matinee (and only show that day), except for Cristin, who had an award show to attend that night.

Also, I got there at 2:30 for a 3 show, and didn't get into the theater until maybe 2:45-2:50, so if you want to take advantage of the going up on stage, get there earlier than half an hour before curtain... then again, I don't think they opened the house until 2:40 that day, because that was when the line started moving.
