As a RENT fan I can say that I'll be sad, but broadway is vast and I enjoy a wide variety of shows...so I assume I'll continue to see as many shows as I possibly can...
You make it sound like all retheads only see is RENT and that's just a unfair generalization.

staticradar, do you see Rent at least once a week? Do you feel like you KNOW the cast personally and scream every time an actor on stage flips his or her hair? Have you seen every understudy/replacement and have a rating system for each character's performance with different cast members? Do you notice when an actor changes a word or turns left instead of right? Do you have pets named after the characters?
If not, you may not be a "rent-head" but a lowly "Rent fan."

I really hope, as a huge rent fan, they will find a new obbsesion. They'll find a new bandwagon to hop on :)

I think they've already bled into Legally Blonde, so they'll be fine until that show goes away too.

They've actually scheduled a draft 2 weeks before the closing. The fans will be split as follows to become obsessed with new shows:
30% Wicked
25% Spring Awakening
20% Jersey Boys
15% Passing Strange
10% In the Heights
Everyone will list their preferences and be placed accordingly.
This is actually an interesting question. This is thousands of tickets a year that go to highly dedicated fans. Whether these ticket sales will be transferred to other shows or just disappear from Broadway remains to be seen.
