“I’m so excited to have a musical with my songs – especially one that takes place in such a magical world filled with characters that I grew up on, who I love and adore,” Spears, 37, said in a statement. “This is a dream come true for me!”"
She's 39.

Why anyone would post an article from two years ago is beyond me but okay. I retract.

The topic re: Britney and her management came up, so I shared the most anybody from her actual self or representation has said about the show.

Re:boycotting the musical.
I’m not going to pretend like I know every single gay in New York City, but I know a lot who are millennial Britney stans. From what I’ve heard none of them plan to boycott the musical and they are very much excited (and have high amounts of disposable income lol). I honestly think that will be the sentiment for most Britney Spears fans - people will just be excited to see her music in a live setting for the first time in MANY years. Plus I feel like if Britney was active in the creative process she would definitely approve of this since the message is about feminism. Sadly, I don’t think that she cares about her career at all right now (understandably so). We will be lucky if she even shows up for the red carpet.

John Glover in a Britney Spears jukebox musical was not on my 2021 list of things that might happen

On the topic of potentially boycottable pop star musicals, I'm curious whether this or MJ will be more successful and/or controversial. MJ will be playing with more fire obviously since it's a bio-musical that almost certainly won't bring up its subject being accused of being a predator, but there are tons of Michael Jackson die-hards who continue to deny everything. It might also do good business with international tourists, although that might not be as big a boost due to COVID
