Once Upon a One More Time

With "Beetlejuice" now going into the Marquis Theatre, does that mean that "Once Upon a One More Time" is not planning on a Broadway opening next spring?

Dates have been announced for Beetlejuice.  April 8. 2022

It may depend on how well it does in DC. I have heard this show and Almost Famous will be in that theater. So, who knows, honestly?

Almost Famous will be at the Marquis? 

Sutton Ross said: "Oh, I don't know. Before the pandemic there was a good amount of talk that when Almost Famous comes to Broadway it will land there. But, there has been no movement on that show, so the status is really unknown."

I agree-I think more was known about Once Upon A One More Time than Almost Famous pre-shutdown.

Oh no worries! I thought it was literally confirmed for the 2022-2023 season for a second, I was getting so excited and imagining Sabrina Carpenter as Penny Lane. 

Sutton Ross said: "Ooof. I hope not. The only casting that I enjoyed for Almost Famous was the actress Penny Lane. I really wanted an almost complete recasting for Broadway."

I was actually thinking of Kate Hudson a bit! I remember she was well liked for her performance on Glee! I wonder what the staging of the production would look like too. 

Sutton Ross said: "Yeah, but Colin Donnell is 38 and Sabrina Carpenter is 22. That's slightly gross. Solea Pfeifferis 12 years younger than Colin in the musical and even that was pushing it. I hope they recast him though, as he does not have the voice or the hotness for it. In my opinion, of course.

For reference, Kate was 21 and Billy was 30 in the film."

Ahh thanks for this! I was Googling fan castings. Just looked at Colin Donnell, he looks more like a Dr. Pomatter to me. He's just not my cup of tea either. 

I just found this and it's from two years (I know) 'Almost Famous' musical is almost ready to rock on Broadway (nypost.com). They also mentioned Anika Larsen at the time?

The Facebook page for the new venue/presenter replied to my question saying that casting will be announced this month or next."

No, I meant pre-pandemic they had announced some performers who were going to be in the out of town production. I’m pretty sure some actors had it on their social media at some point that they’d be in the show-maybe Aisha Jackson, who right now is reprising her role in Waitress, but I thought she was also set to be a part of this show…

jacobsnchz14 answered your question in his original post. He linked to an article with the original casting announcement from March 2020, and then added that the casting for this upcoming engagement should be announced in the next month or so. I'm not sure who from the originally announced cast is planning on continuing with the show, but here's everyone who was announced forthe 2020 run:
