The song is now up on the DG fan blog.
Everyone and their mother insists Beyonce is perfect for Deena. Yet she takes that country accent of hers and sings ONO through her nose. SMDH!

I urge everyone to re-consider before listening to the song!!!
I want to go into the theatre not expecting anything. I want it to be as much of a first impression as possible. Listening to the soundtrack ahead of time may take away from your experience in first watching the film by already knowing what it sounds like.
So why not be surprised and go into the film with no opinion on its sound? Let the movie speak for itself.
Beyonce didnt have to sing that song like that...i think i may cry when this film comes out. Cause Ive heard Jennifer's ONO and baby they just wont be giving us a break cuz after that masterpiece here comes Beyonce, Anika (who is working that whistle register by the way), and Sharon sounding like Angels from Queer Heaven.
Capn that song will be played on radio stations everywhere it was shipped last week so good luck on trying not to hear it.
Tonya you are so right she killed that track its sick
Well it's a good thing I don't listen to the radio, then.
It's certainly unavoidable to listen to portions of the song as it will be used in trailers and TV spots, however it is certainly preventable to listen to the song in its entirety.
The fact that this thread doesn't already have 4 pages of responses depresses me.
I'm suprised/depressed as well.
I'm not going to listen to it either, and go the wait-till-I-see-it-in-theaters route. I say that now but as soon as "And I Am Telling You.." gets released I'll probably be jumping to download it.
I'm not a fan of it. It just...I don'tk now. Something about it rubs me the wrong way.
The orchestration is what is problematic for me, not her voice. I bet it doesn't sound like this in the film.
I downloaded the extended version, so I dont know if there is a huge difference between the two... but I liked it- but to be fair, I wasnt expecting anything really...I mean this aint AIATY.
I enjoy the seventies dance break though.
I have to say that I liked it...though that seems to be the unpopular opinion at this point.
On first listening, the intro is awkward. The song itself doesn't sound bad - but the looooooong musical interlude (where the show charts the versions of ONO) is boring without the dialog. I also a bigger ending.
I don't think the release of this version is going to stimulate any interest in the movie. Stripped of context, ONO is a good number - not a great number.
This song will be a hit in gay danceclubs across America. Why not wait until the entire film comes out before making any sweeping proclaimations about the quality of the product. It seems to me that the producers have yet to make one misstep. The cast is talented and the production values look pretty lux and personally, the arrangements (if ONO is any indication) take me right back to 1982.
I'm not a huge Beyonce fan, but I think the song sounds great. Are they really releasing it to radio, though (I love the 70’s disco arrangement, but will something this retro get any radio play?)?
Sidenote: iTunes is taking orders for Beyonce’s new album, and among the bonus tracks is one of the movie’s new songs, “Listen” (release date isn’t until September, though).

I like it...and hey, it's better than Ute Lemper's version...=)
Here's hoping the movie nails the source material...and I think it will.

I'm thrilled by the version. It fits the story perfectly. Deena's disco version of One Night Only is supposed to be a stark contrast to Effie's heartrending verion of the same song. From the trailers, I had feared that Deena's version would have too much soul (because it's Beyonce) and would undermine the whole point of the song. But this song, while perhaps not the most enjoyable possible version, is slick and overproduced -- absolutely perfect for the film.

I agree with Michael Bennett. It doesn't sound fully mixed.
Is this an official release? If not, can it be discussed on BWW?

The song has been officially been released. I can't see it being played on radio. Maybe the dance stations. It has a dated sound to it. It has it's moments but doesn't top the original.
it's much more authentically 70s than the original. i used to get mad when it said "disco" version when in reality, the original ONO, while a great song, sounded like a regular showtune to me. this really does have an authentic disco sound. from the music i have heard from the film, all of it sounds so authentic to the time period.
