I'm hearing there's another opening for a female chorus member in the upcoming BIRDIE revival.

True?

Really? I heard someone saying tonight that they're auditioning for it because someone in the ensemble dropped out or something.

Oh, haha. I just made that up. You said True? I figured False would be a good response :P
Do you know by chance which of the "13" girls are in the ensemble? Apparently, a lot are.

No idea. Hopefully Elizabeth Gilles is in the ensemble. She was the only cast member of 13 that made any kind of impression on me.

^ It better be good or I will never see a revival ever again.
I was disappointed about Guys and Dolls and they just had to ruin one of my favorite shows.
Birdie is one of my favorite shows and if they mess it up I will be so pissed.

I'm really excited for Allie Trimm as Kim. I remember seeing 13 and she was the one who, to me, stood out the most, 2nd to her being Elizabeth. But if anything, Allie's vocals will be perfect for Kim. The music itself is delightful and it's a shame it hasn't been revived, so just to hear the music will be a treat.

I've never seen the stage show before (only the movie). How old is Kim supposed to be? Allie Trimm looks a little too young to me, but again, I've only seen the movie with Ann-Margret

Is Kim usually played by a slightly older actress, or do 15-year-olds usually play her?

Yup. Usually slightly older actresses. This production is going for actual teenagers.

Well....you can't USUALLY since it hasn't been done on b'way since the original. Most local productions use age appropriate kids....or at least teens.

Kim isn't a terribly demanding role, really.

^ Well that's a whole other story, that doesn't make sense, lol. We get a VERY young Birdie, but then a Hugo who looks the same age as him.

A girl they cast in the ensemble to cover Kim dropped out at the last minute.

They're having an "emergency" call tomorrow with thirty five girls they picked who were seen at the initial open call, most of whom didn't even receive callbacks back then.

Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Kim is 15.

When you're a skinny child of fourteen,
Wrired with braces from ear to ear,
You doubt that you will ever be appealing.
Then Hallelujah! You are fifteen
And the braces disappear
And your skin is smooth and clear
And you have that happy grown-up female feeling.

They original movie changed her age to 16, and the movie remake changed her age to 17.
