I extended my NYC trip for a day and am looking for one more show to round out my trip that includes On the Twentieth Century and The Audience.
Im open to plays and musicals. I prefer BIG musicals, or shows that are celebrity driven (while also being good).
Some of my favorite shows are Wicked, Pippin, The Addams Family, Scandalous, and Follies. The list goes on but those are the ones that stick out!
I do feel that I should say that based on what I've read, seen and heard, Fun Home is not something I care to see. I had some interest at first, but the more I've read the less interest I have.

I would recommend Finding Neverland or On The Town.

I hope Kathie Lee sees this so she knows someone liked Scandalous.

If it was me, On The Twentieth Century would win.
However, your research into Fun Home led you to a decision - so why not repeat the process with the other shows you mentioned? Look up their websites, reviews, YouTube clips etc. or else consult the list of currently running shows on this very website and see what appeals to you. Simple, really.

I'm looking at Its Only a Play now...the cast looks awesome and the premise seems hilarious...I'm also one who eats up pop culture references. So the thought of seeing that sounds fun, but lots of the comments on here aren't the most positive... Hmm...

I saw "It's Only a Play" New Years Eve. I think the cast then was a little more to my personal taste than the cast is now (I liked Megan Mullally and Rupert Grint particularly who've now departed the cast). As for the play itself, it was very enjoyable and filled with theater references. It's certainly an entertaining and pleasant way to spend an evening (at least for me) but it wasn't special enough to be very memorable. I know many people on these boards who liked it less than I did.

I think you shouldn't miss Vanessa Hudgens in Gigi, which is a big flashy glamorous musical. On The Town is also a good pick for you.

SOMETHING ROTTEN--no question about it--esp if you like "references"--"pop" or otherwise--it is a "big" musical, cast/dancing/sets--filled with lots of THEATRE stars (Darcy James, Borle, Oscar, and more and more and more)--and they prob have tix avail too!

Something Rotten or Finding Neverland. They are both BIG and loud and glitzy. SR has tons of references, although not so much to pop culture but to Shakespeare and Broadway. Finding Neverland has Matt Morrison and Kelsey Grammar.
It's Only A Play was great fun, but if I had to pick I'd go with one of the above mentioned musicals. Neverland will tour though and might come near you, so SR!

Based on your likes, I'd concur with the others and go for Something Rotten.
As a backup, On the Town….
My other favorite was On the Twentieth Century, but you're seeing that, so you're good to go on that one.
