I can't wait to see it. The Oscars usually suck. Billy Crystal sucked last year. Will Ferrell and Jack Black's duet was about the only bright spot.

I'm straight, and I watch the Tony's. But I confess that hardly anyone watches the Tony's. Its ratings have been terrible lately.

I just don't think anything he says is funny. He looks like a fly that's been swatted one too many times with a flyswatter and sounds like a rat. I really dislike him, and not because of his "gay" comment.

The thing that bugs me about this whole Chris Rock thing is that him saying "Only gay people watch the Tony's" is untrue. He never even said that. What he did say was "What straight black man watches the Oscars?" People (journalists) took it upon themselves to change what he said and create this uproar that didn't really exist. The head of GLAD even made a statement saying they weren't offended b/c that wasn't what he said. Apparently a few members of the Academy are not happy with him being host and have begun this "smear" campaign to get him booted which isn't going to happen. At the end of the day, Chris Rock hosting the Oscars equals ratings. You're going to get a good number of people who don't watch the Oscars watching it just for him. The same thing goes for Beyonce replacing Minnie Driver...

He did say "only gay people watch the tony's". I remember it because when Jay asked him about the comments that he (Rock) made about the oscars, he said (loosely)"No, I didnt say that only gay people watch the oscars, I said that only gay people watch the TONY'S"

The Oscars are classy? When someone shows up to an awards show dressed as a swan, you've basically taken any class out of them.

And personally, I'm glad that we won't have to suffer through any more of Billy Crystal's song and dance routines. The shows are already 4+ hours long, jokes will at least keep me awake until they show the awards I actually care about.

Because Chris Rock is a big hypocrite. If someone made a racial comment, he'd be all over them. If Jamie Foxx doesn't win the Oscar, you know he'll make a big deal. Why? Because they're both black. He's ignorant, and doesn't understand that it goes both ways.

I don't like Chris Rock, but not because of the comment. I don't find him funny. They should find someone else who has actually contributed something to the film industry to host.

Oh and I'm adding myself to the straight guys who watch the Tonys group. ^^

If you had half a brain in your skull (which I highly doubt,) you would have understood why joe said "Only black people listen to Chris Rock." All of us know that that is obviously not true - just as we know that Rock's comment about only gay people watching the Tony's isn't true. So he turned the tables and put it a different way. I wouldn't expect you to understand that at all, but I atleast thought I'd try.

Once more: if Rock can say "only Gay people watch the Tonys," we can say "Only Black people listen to Chris Rock." Neither is true, both is stereotypical, but it goes to show you that racism and prejudice go both ways. Again, I suspect that it's impossible for you to comprehend that. So go again, sister, preach to us.

I actually agree and dont think Chris Rock should host the Oscars. I think he's a brilliant comedian, but i do think he's wrong for this particular show.
