Operation make Idina a popular recording artist...

I'd love to see Idina get as much publicity as she can, but I would hate to see her on MTV or anything like that...

Pop Stars and Chenoway stars should be two separate things, IMHO.

I dont think that the american public would recognize her for what she is. As musical theater enthusiasts we value different qualities. Not that she wouldn't be liked, i mean.

i suppose im trying to say that i like the idea of broadway and everything about it stays out of mainstream entertainment. I dont want it hyped. I dont want people that dont understand her talent making stupid comments. I think of broadway and its jewells as untouched treasures. I am not so desperate to hear her voice that i want it played along with kibmerly locke 23 times an hour on the radio stations that im forced to listen to at work.

I say keep her talent low scale, but highly honored, instead of widely known and cheepened

The beatles are a totally different issue. They introduced a new kind of music. A kind of music that the public was in great need for. And they were sex symbols of sorts, (i suppose thats the best word)

I cant see the public differentiating Idina from all the other current female solo recording artists.

And I dont think that making Idina a pop star would bring many fans to the theater world.

My point was not that im protecting the secret of broadway, just Idina. I honestly think that the broadway community respects her now more than the general public would if that were to happen.

Popular, by definition, means appealing to the masses. I for one do not want to see Idina molded to fit whatever is hot on MTV these days.

If her music, as is, was to be played on MTV, how would that make her molded to fit that, when she recorded this music while she wasn't in the mainstream.

And I think we've already seen from her first two albums that she won't conform to what is typical popular music just to sell more records...she would never become molded to what is played on MTV...she wouldn't let herself.

Personally, I think that if her music was heard, she'd be decently popular. I think the problem is that whoever is officially in charge of promoting her music did a terrible job doing so for "Still I can't be Still" and whoever is doing it now is not doing so well for "Here."

I would love to see Idina's solo career recognized, but I don't even know if that's what she wants. I know that when Still was released she really wanted it to be a hit, but I don't know if she wants that for Here. If I knew she did, I'd try to help, but for now I just play the music for my friends and expose it to people I know.

If I knew she wanted to be in the mainstream, I'd push for it, but something makes me believe she just might be content with actually having a private life....but who could ever know?

I hate to burst anyones bubble but the music industry is not interested in "new pop stars" over the age of 15. It's the MOST ageist of the entertainment fields.
