Hey BWW comrades, how would I go about finding who owns the copyright on the OBC Promises Promises poster art? The advertising credit on IDBD is Fred Golden. Can't figure out who the ad agency was.
I'm interested in showing the poster on a feature film I'm working on that takes place in Manhattan circa 1970. If anyone can crack the code on rights, it'd be you guys.
Maybe contact Triton Gallery. They have a reproduction up on their site from what I suspect is the original poster. Maybe they would know there. Just a thought. They are closed but I think you can still contact them.
According to this article, it was one called Diener/Hauser/Bates, which isn't in existence today.
The rights would likely have been owned by the show itself, which would mean the producers, David Merrick and Samuel Liff, both deceased. No clue what happens in that situation...

I would contact the licensing house for the show.

Which poster? There were actually 2 versions.
The first version was an illustration of women surrounding a phallic-like apartment room key, it was used on the original cast album cover. I'm not sure who the illustrator is.
The second version was a drawing of a female figure on top of the title with her legs open (yes, you read the right). That poster was designed by Talivaldis Stubis, who was also responsible for the upside down girl in roller skates logo for "Funny Girl".
Carlos thanks so much and to the other responders above. I am more interested in the apartment key image, but can’t tell if this was ever a one sheet poster, or strictly just the album cover art. Having the actual artist’s name on the upside down girl art is awesome. Yay BWW community!

You're welcome! Glad I could help! Good luck with your project!

yes, you could send a letter to their legal dept. asking for any assistance in obtaining licensing information, since they must have obtained it themselves.
