I can't wait to finally see Sweeney Todd live on Broadway. I was thinking yesterday I would love to see a revival of Sunday in the Park With George.
What other Sondheim tuners would people like to see revived?
Into the Woods - but I know it's a bit too recently done for another revival >.> my DVD of the original cast will have to do (whatever <3 I love Joanna Gleason & Bernadette Peters)

A Little Night Music is scheduled to be revived with Glenn Close next season, so there really isn't much left to revive that hasn't already had a major Broadway revival in the past few seasons. All that's left is Anyone Can Whistle, Merrily We Roll Along (which would be great) and Sunday. None are likely to be profitable in a commercial setting (the first two especially were MAJOR flops the first time around) -- perhaps Roundabout might be interested in doing one or more of them.
Passion with Donna Murphy as Fosca because I was never able to see it the first time. She can just Patti Lupone it and play it older. Who cares. She's the Mack Fosca. While I'm grateful for the DVD, I'm sure there's nothing like seeing her live. It's been 11 years, which isn't that much shorter than the time Into the Woods took...She can be the next Yul! Ok I know she wouldn't do it again but still...I can't think of anyone else who is big on Broadway right now who could pull of as wonderful a Fosca. *Sigh*
Merrily We Roll Along!!
I'd love to see that redone. I only recently discovered the cast recording and it's become one of my favorites.
Other than that... eh... can I put Assassins? Cause I didn't get a chance to see the revival... they should revive it for me...!
Sunday would be nice too... aw heck, I can't decide.

"Merrily We Roll Along" would be great to be revived.
I would love to see Anyone Can Whistle or Company (although) it was already revived in 1995.
I'd like a big revival of Company in a few years. To make up for that crap the Roundabout did in 95.
Out of curiousity, (I did not see the revival) why was it crap?
I'd like to see A Little Night Music, but I'm not so enthusiastic about Glenn Close. I hate to say this, but isn't she a bit old for Desiree? And I know that most Desirees aren't great singers, but it would be interesting to actually cast a singer for once and see how it works.
Bad casting. Bad direction. Bad almost everything.
loved Anyone Can Whistle at Ravinia last month
I will definately go East for A Little Night Music!
I want a good West Side Story. Broadway's Lost Treasures was on last night and I saw "America" from the 80's revival and it made me want to see that show done REALLY well. But after that, I would really like to see a new take on Into the Woods. I want something less straightforward and cute like the recent revival. I want something with grit. And, of course, Sunday in the Park. That should be next on Roundabout's list.

It was announced some time ago that Jerry Mitchell would healm a 50th Anniversary production of West Side Story in 2007 (recreating the original Robbins choreography), but I haven't heard anything lately about whether or not that production is still on. Hopefully it is.
West Side Story would be wonderful!

West Side Story would be *divine.* I'd also like to see Sunday in The Park With George, and if it can be done properly this time around, Company. Merilly would be nice as well.
I was going to say A Little Night Music. I didn't know there was already a revival in the works. Hooray!
Did a little searching. Are Angela Lansbury (please yes) and Richard Gere (please no) still contenders to be involved?
I definitely want a big budget revival of "A Little Night Music." But my ultimate dream cast for next season would be the following...
Desiree - Meryl Streep
Countess Charlotte Malcolm - Victoria Clark
Frederick - Kevin Kline
Count Carl-Magnus Malcolm - Raul Esparza
Petra - Sutton Foster
Ann - Kelli O'Hara
Henrik - Matthew Morrison
Madame Armfeldt - Barbara Cook
...I can dream, can't I?

Lansbury is retired from stage performing (though she still does the occasional concert). Never heard any rumor involving Gere.
The last statement to come out that I saw had Glenn Close starring and Trevor Nunn directing with it tentatively scheduled to come to Broadway in 2006.
I still anxiously await a full-scale Broadway revival of Sunday in the Park With George....... with Alice Ripley as Dot

Passion...with Michael Ball as Giorgio...because I missed it the first time, because the music is gorgeous, because I think he's grown as an actor since 1996 and just...because...
This is where I found it (re: Gere & Lansbury).

It's from more than a year ago, but Close and Nunn apparently were attached by then.
Eww, I'm not a Michael Ball fan.
I had heard about the West Side rumor, but Jerry is getting so booked with everything else that I assumed it had been put on the back burner. But if it does pan out, that would mean that we would probably have to recreations of Broadway classics running at the same time (A Chorus Line and West Side Story). That would be fun.
Why is Lansbury retired from the stage? Just too exhausting? She should be in 70, Girls, 70 at Encores. Her, Barbra Cook, Elaine Stritch, Betty Buckley, it will be wonderful!

I seem to recall an interview where Lansbury said that at 80, she won't be doing anymore long runs on stage. I'll see if I can find the link.
I can't think of anyone else who is big on Broadway right now who could pull of as wonderful a Fosca. *Sigh*
Maria Friedman. I know she's not *big* at the moment, but with WOMAN IN WHITE opening... she will be. and she's fantastic on the London PASSION CD with Michael Ball...
