Hi, Rathnait62! That's great! I'm confused, though. Didn't you just tell me you can't get any work in NY 'cause you're "not a professional?" Is this as part of your workshop? Or for school? (Sorry, I don't know how old you are.)
I am a studying actor, and I've just been cast in three roles in "The Laramie Project":
Dennis Shepard
Jedadiah Schultz
Harry Woods

Congrats, broadway86! I hear that's a great play! (Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to see a production of it yet.)
It's the workshop I'm doing - we're doing a production of FIDDLER. It's Encores! style - on book, and it they aren't casting too much by looks/age, but more on suitability for the role. I'm one of the few who are singers more than actors, so I ended up with the singing role. I'm excited!

Rathnait62: Well, that's awesome! You'll have a great time. Hodel is the best female role other than Golde, in my opinion. Although, I have to point out that while it is the role with the prettiest ballad, and therefore needs to go to a real singer, it also requires good acting chops. (Particularly when Perchik gets attacked at the wedding and when you're saying goodbye to Tevye at the train station.) So, you'll definitely get to test that side of your abillity. You'll have fun.
I love acting too, and since this is a workshop where they'll be coaching and working intensely on that, I'm hoping I'll be able to pull it off - but it's not my strong suit.

Rath has a FABULOUS voice! She could easily be cast in a professional show... she's just too much of a perfectionist to actually go out there and DO IT. :-P
I'm a singer/actor, too. Recently started auditioning out here in NY. I'm a youngin'.... trying to break my way into the biz. Same ole, same ole.
Thank you, sweetie.
Daisy Hilton will have a substantial role on Broadway within three years. Rathnait, the Broadway Psychic, has spoken!!!

Aww.
I dunno 'bout that, but here's hoping! *raises her glass*

Hi, Daisy! That's great! I'm sure you'll do wonderfully. I personally have never auditioned in NY, but I hear it's a toughie. Been living in LA ever since college...came out here planning to be a film and TV actress and somehow ended up doing theater professionally. Weird. I do get submitted by my agent for Broadway from time to time (and even get the appointment and a callback or two), so who knows? Maybe I'll get back over there someday! (I grew up in NJ)
And Rath, I bet Daisy's right...just go out there and do it!
It's definitely too late for me to be a pro, Erika. But I can still have fun with it!

I am not an actor, but am an aspiring lighting designer. I am currently working on getting into NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. Who knows? I might start out at Disneyland!

Of course you can have fun with it! But if the "62" in your screenname means you were born in '62, you're not too old to do anything you freakin' want to.
OK, I am going to be late if I don't leave now. Talk to you later!

Yes, that's what it means. In 25 years I'll be ready for Mrs. Potts. Hmmm, maybe I'll be one of those retirees from the corporate world who becomes a professional performer.
I am a proffessional non-equity actor, who is paying myt way through college with acting gigs (I have no intent on doing it for a living, just as a hobby.) I just finished a hugely sucsessful run of Fiddler, and I was Motel. Gah I miss that character so much...and the show in general.

We need to have a FIDDLER support group!
Hah...agreed...actually, no joke, me and my friends have one online. Our cast became REALLY tight and then at the end of the summer we all split up all over the world, so we keep in touch on a message board we set up. Gotta love technology.

I am still in high school ( my senior year) but I also do theatre every chance I can. I am going to be going to college next fall to get my BFA in Musical Theatre. My mom thinks I should look at maybe auditioning at disneyland or World or even a cruise ship as a character. I also thought it would be so much fun. So I would like to know about it! I have a knack for kids and I love to perform more than anything in the world!
Lemme know! Have a wonderful day!

Rath & Link,
A Fiddler support group would be great! I have been suffering from Fiddler withdrawal for a couple of months. I produced and acted in a recent run of the show here in Nebraska.
Rath--you will love the role of Hodel. I was Mordcha the Innkeeper (not a huge role, but alot of fun).
Thanks. I'm definitely excited! I haven't done a show in years, not since before I moved to NYC. I'm thrilled to have this opportunity.
I'm a senior in high school, too. Lookin' to go to college for Musical Theatre. The last show I did was Brighton Beach Memoirs, where I was Stanley. What an absolutely great show. That's one of my favorite shows to have acted in. Lots of comedy and emotion!
Bump cause I know there are many others here who have not yet posted...show yourselves!

For the Fiddler support group:
My mother, an Equity actress, has played Yente in five different productions between 1972 and 1990, running anywhere from three to nine months, for a total of over two years in the role.
At the age of 71, she could do it again, but would really rather not!
