Other stage roles for CZJ

Even though I still pine for a Vanessa Williams Phyllis, I agree that it would be a good role for Cathy.

My friend Joe can't stand her and always sneers, "Cathy Jones." I just say it cause it's funny.
Maybe Cathy Jones could do Cathy the musical, based on the long running comic by Cathy Guisewite!

She'd be great as MAME and would have been wonderful in WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN. Even though it opened the door for her eventual casting in NIGHT MUSIC, its too bad she turned down the chance to audition for it (Bartlett Sher insisted she do so instead of a straight forward offer).

Why does she have to be so young? I wish she could do Follies at the Kennedy Center. I almost guarantee Sondheim would approve the casting regardless of her age, he seems to REALLY love Catherine.
Here's to hoping she wins the Tony next month.

I'm not her biggest fan by a long shot, but I would LOVE to see her in The Little Foxes.

I think she'd be a great Velma Kelly.
Seriously though, I would LOVE to see her do a star turn as Lily Garland in On The Twentieth Century.
And Andrea Martin as Letita Primrose.

She can do "Hello, Dolly!" whenever she wants... I don't think she's too young, and lord knows Channing was playing Dolly well into her 80s.
I would also love to see her in any of the three lead female roles in "City of Angels," but I don't think any of them are big enough for her. Maybe in a movie version, though. Actually, in a movie version, she can play all of them

She apparently passed on revivals of Anything Goes and Bye Bye Birdie. Sounds like a smart decision.

Yeah, Roundabout actively courted her for a revival of Anything Goes, but she wanted to play a different character.

The only show I can really see her in is "Kiss of the Spider Woman". I like her playing that type of character for some reason.

She'd be an excellent Mamma Rose some years down the line.

Even thought the substance of the show is not excellent, she would be an excellent Morticia. But put me on the Gypsy, Mame, Kiss of the Spiderwoman bandwagon!!

It's too soon... (from her last outing)
And I'm not sure if she could suitably act (perhaps too over the top?)
But she is the kind of star power a PASSION revival needs!
The novelty of her being (hopefully) extremely sickly and ugly looking in the show seems interesting (I mean it does in me, but I don't know if it will in others, create interest/talk etc..)
Since she is 'in' with Sondheim, it seems intuitive she would want to work with him again.

Give me claws and a hunch, just away from this bunch.

I'd rather see her create a NEW role in a NEW musical than become another fantasy casting go-to-girl for all the same tired shows that get endlessly revived and cast here.
That being said...
GYPSY in ten years?
She'd be a great Rose now. She's actually the exact right age - she looks young enough for the early scenes, and at 40 she's the age Rose should be at the end of the show.
What a unique concept. A Rose who isn't superannuated.
And before the "it's too soon for another GYPSY revival" arguments begin, I AGREE. I'm just saying she's the right age to play the role. Now.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

I'm telling you, it should be the stage version of the Cathy Comic. Ack!!!!!

First thing that came to mind was the aforementioned Mame, but I'll also add Applause.

Since Dixie Carter has passed away, CZJ is now my choice for a concert production of Coco.
I'll also add Vera in Pal Joey to the list. And maybe Lola in Damn Yankees.

Kiss of the Spider Woman is a perfect fit for CZJ. I can't picture her in Gypsy, and why would anyone want to see yet another revival of that show anyways?
