Overheard two old ladies talking as I left the theatre and thought you folks might find it amusing:
ELDERLY WOMAN #1: Donna Murphy was just wonderful! I'm surprised I liked her so much, since I hated her in PASSIONS [sic].
ELDERLY WOMAN #2: She was in PASSIONS [sic]?!? The soap opera?!?

Sheesh.

Jennifer Holliday's been dead a long time, silly. Like since the 1950s. She was a very sophisticated lady, though. She was great as Glinda in "The Wizard of Oz" film, too.

Wasn't Alexis Carrington in the original production?
And Yvonne Elliman?

No, you're thinking of Yvonne Craig. Yvonne Elliman was the original batgirl.
re: Overheard at FOLLIES tonight#17
Posted: 2/13/07 at 12:20pmNo, she sang "I'm Still Here" in Company.

I thought she played Morticia Adams. Another fun fact: John Huston, who played Gomez, was also the father of the later film version's Morticia, Angelina Jolie.

Posted: 2/13/07 at 1:14pmDoes anyone have the bootleg of the Boston tryout, where Sally's folly was "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going"? I always thought it worked better for her than it did when Sondheim reused it in Dreamgirls.
re: Overheard at FOLLIES tonight#22
Posted: 2/13/07 at 1:24pmWasn't Sally's Folly a play by Lanford Wilson?
re: Overheard at FOLLIES tonight#23
Posted: 2/13/07 at 1:28pmIt was. It's the non-musical play on which Follies was based.
