Overheard at my hotel about Kristin Chenoweth...

I work in a very upscale hotel in San Francisco, and two guests came in and started to talk about Kristin Chenoweth and how she won her first Tony award for the revival of Oklahoma...anyway the conversation went like this:

1st Woman: "Oh my daughter is working with Kristin Chenoweth right now... you know, the girl who won the Tony for Oklahoma revival"

2nd Woman: "Kristin did not win for "Oklahoma", she won for "Wicked"".

1st: "No, she won for "Oklahoma" first, then she won for "Wicked" cause she was just that good".

2nd Woman: "Oh, that is right, I remember now, didn't that one chick that was married to Taye Diggs accept the award for her, because Kristin wasn't there"

1st Woman: "Yes, because there was no way that other woman could have won, she was just so bad..."

2nd Woman: "hahaha I love you, what do you want to do today?"

I don't believe him either. I suspect it's a horrible attempt at April Fool's humor.

That said, let's pretend the story is true for a second.

Both of them women in this conversation are actually far less annoying than Chenoweth.

To my defense, it is true. What was interesting was to hear these two women big so wrong, I found it funny and wanted to share.

When the ladies checked-out this morning, I corrected them on their conversation... they looked at me and said "How would you know?" then I showed them proof and they both went "Omg, that's right...you are correct"...it was just a funny story.

And it's not an April Fools joke!

Assuming the story is true, just a word to the wise. Be careful on making it clear to a hotel guest you were listening in on their conversation, even if they were "loud" about it. Sounds like they reacted well but others who stay at upscale hotels rightly or wrongly, might have been offended "the help" was eavesdropping on their private conversation and the incident could have ended very differently for you than them appreciating your correction.

Oh no, the place I work at is small, and we are encouraged to interact with guest, in fact when they were talking they kept looking at me as if I wanted to interject and agree with them..it was all good..it was like a party at the time this happened...guest were talking to me as other guests were talking in groups all over..so overheard is correct, but eavesdropping I was not...it was just a fun night with that funny conversation..

I would have said to made up lady number 2 that it was interesting that she knew Kristin didn't win for Oklahoma and that she could name check Taye Diggs, yet could only come up with "that chick" for Idina Menzel, even though she knew they were married.

I think it was a natural mistake. Lots of people confuse You're a Good Man, Curly Brown with Oklahoma.
