No doubt Donna would ace Callas.
I'd be curious what Moss would do with Sonia in Uncle Vanya, although I wish I would have been able to see her as Martha in The Children's Hour in London.
Next: your mission, should you accept it, is to cast the following two people together in a play, movie remake, or book adaptation for film or screen (feel free to tell us who you want to direct, etc.)
Christoph Waltz and Frances O'Connor
It's almost too easy for them: George and Martha in Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. They're both electrifying performers, able to seamlessly shift their emotions at a whim. I'd love to see them do it either on stage or on film. (I want O'Connor back on stage)
I had never considered Moss for Sonia, but hearing it, it sounds pretty ideal. Perhaps her MAD MEN co-star Christina Hendricks could play Yelena.
Next two: Vera Farmiga and Adrien Brody.
Cool, AC, I didn't particularly have anything in mind but was curious what the response would be. Virginia Woolf is a very cool idea. I also see them as Torvald and Nora big time.
Farmiga and Brody as Amalia and Gennaro in De Filippo's Napoli Milionaria.
Frances McDormand and Holly Hunter

The first thing that came to my mind was Schiller's MARY STUART: McDormand as the fiery Mary; Hunter as the placid but forceful Elizabeth. But then I thought I might like to see them in DON CARLOS instead, with Hunter as Elisabeth of Valois and McDormand as Princess Eboli. They're both long in the tooth, but it wouldn't be the first time that happened.
I could also see them in THE WINTER'S TALE (McDormand as Paulina, Hunter as Hermione).
Bill Irwin and Alfred Molina
Wow - although I certainly agree with your age caveat! I'm tempted to go further and say esas son completemente sobre los Pirineos Araganoses para Don Carlos. Mary Stuart, of course, though it's difficult for me to imagine anyone other than McTeer and Walter in those roles at this point, so in awe of their work there. They're perfect for those roles in Winter's Tale.
I'd love to see Irwin and Molina in a film of Bellow's Humboldt's Gift, Irwin as Charlie (a bit of stretch but I think he could do it) and Molina as Humboldt.
David Greenspan and Harriet Harris
This is not a show I particularly like, but I could see Harriet Harris in the title role of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, with Greenspan as Man in Chair. They'd bring wit and layers that are missing from the musical itself.
Rebecca Hall and Eve Best?
So many possibilities!
Most excitiing to me would be Best as Solange and Hall as Claire in The Maids (perhaps with Jolie Richardson as Madame).
Also worth considering:
Best as Olivia and Hall as Viola in Twelfth Night
Best as Sarah and Hall as Mandy in Time Stands Still
Best as Lotty and Hall as Rose in Enchanted April
Best as the Marquise de Merteuil and Hall as Mme. de Tourvel in
Les Liaisons
Best as June and Hall as Childie in Killing of Sister George
Best as Masha and Hall as Irina....
etc., etc., etc.

Best & Hall as the Pigeon sisters in The Odd Couple
Raul Esparza & Cheno?
Broadway Legend Joined: 7/28/05
Raul and Cheno as Fred/Petruchio and Lilli/Kate. They would make an interesting George and Dot, too. Or the Baker and his wife.
Stokes and Mazzie
Stokes and Mazzie as Ben and Sally in Follies.
Martha Plimpton and Stephen Colbert?
Plimpton as Emma and Colbert as Robert in BETRAYAL.
Kevin Kline and S. Epatha Merkerson
Stokes and Mazzie as Oscar and Lily in On The Twentieth Century
Plimpton and Colbert as Maggie and Bert in 42nd Street
Amy Adams and Bryan D'Arcy James?
Amy Adams and Brian D'Arcy James as Cinderella and her respective prince in Into the Woods.
Harvey Fierstein and Jill Paice?
Jill Paice as Ella Patterson in BELLS ARE RINGING, with Fierstein in the supporting role of Sandor.
Jan Maxwell and Michele Pawk?
Jan Maxwell as Hesione and Michelle Pawk as Corine in Triumph of Love
OR BETTER YET: Maxwell as Desiree and Michelle as Charlotte!!
Don Cheadle and Jennifer Coolidge
Updated On: 7/30/11 at 02:09 PM
Coolidge and Cheadle as Hannah and William Warren / Diana and Sidney Nichols / Gert and Stu Franklyn in CALIFORNIA SUITE.
(Speaking of Pawk in TRIUMPH OF LOVE, I saw her as Hesione in the original run. I'm not sure if she replaced Betty Buckley or covered her during a vacation, but she was exquisite, perhaps even better than Buckley.)
Since one of my previous challenges got lost in a shuffle, I'll ask again: Kevin Kline and S. Epatha Merkerson?
Thought I already responded AC but it doesn't look like it took. Kline and Merkerson as Willy and Linda Loman.
Joanna Lumley and Tom Courtenay
I love that idea, Henrik.
Lumley as Julie Cavendish (a role I've always wanted her to play and I think she could still pull off) and Courtenay as Herbert Dean in THE ROYAL FAMILY.
Bebe Neuwirth and Simon Russell Beale?
Broadway Star Joined: 6/26/11
i know this isn't the most popular idea but i think bebe could off rose in gypsy especially with mendes as director and beale as herbie
Broadway Star Joined: 6/26/11
LuPone and Peters as Lady Bracknell and Miss Prism, perhaps?
Joe Mantello and George Hearn
Lupone and Peters alternating as Cora and Fay in Anyone Can Whistle.
I know, I know - but nothing says Fay and Hapgood have to be young.
Stanley Tucci and Jane Kaczmarek
Jane Kaczmarek as Dotty Otley and Stanley Tucci as Lloyd Dallas in NOISES OFF! (with Judy Greer as Brooke Ashton).
George Hearn as President Hockstader and Joe Mantello as Secretary William Russell in THE BEST MAN.
Kate Mulgrew and Lauren Ambrose?
Kate Mulgrew as Kitty and Lauren Ambrose as Vivie in Mrs. Warren's Profession
Two "Uncommon Women" together again: Alma Cuervo and Swoosie Kurtz
Kurtz as Agnes and Cuervo as Claire in A DELICATE BALANCE. And speaking of Wasserstein, I'd like to see either actress take a stab at Professor Laurie Jacobsen in THIRD.
Christine Lahti and Boyd Gaines?
